NYR - VAN Trade Proposal

NYR with their first overall pick will take LW Lafreniere with their 1st OA pick adding to great prospect depth and a bright future to come.

 

Their one weakness is possibly centre depth- us having potential cap problems  in the future gives us the opportunity to give them a 3rd line defenceman in Beagle/ Sutter giving them a good checking/ defensive line.

 

What I suggest we want back? None other then Petty's teammate from the WJC and the Swede who hates 2nd place, Lias Andersson,

 

It allows NYR to get a missing piece and also relieve themselves of Andersson who has reported he doesnt want to play for the NYR.

 

Is this a fair trade? Does NYR add a mid pick on top of their prospect.

Lol the NYR would laugh at that.  We’d have to add to get Lias Anderson on top of Sutter and honestly I’m not really a fan seeing as he’s got attitude issues.

They'd be asking for OJ as they don't have a young defenseman who is competent in his own end.  I wouldn't do it.  Poolparty for Andersson makes a ton of sense for both teams anyway.

Puljujarvi talked of a possible return to Edmonton back in June.  Holland has been in contact with him too.

 

“You can never say no," Puljujarvi told Finnish news outlet Tampere Iltalehti. "I have grown and I see things a little differently. There’s now a different GM and head coach out there. Build a winning team in Edmonton. It may be possible that I will still be playing there.”

Also entirely possible his agent told him to say that so he's easier to trade for a decent return.  This was also before Chicago exposed the Coilers as the losers they are.

 

I still don't see him back there, even if willing.  They already have a losing culture there and it's a huge risk for both sides.

Holland was not willing to trade him back then.  Don't see him doing it now that the door for a return has opened.

I don’t like the idea of paying the price of a trade for bottom 6 players. Tons of bottom 6 players available in free agency every year.

Honestly I would move Sutter for Ty Ronning and 5th round pick if they took on his full cap. It would give us a lot more flexibility moving forward and we can try to get Gaudette going as the 3C over the season.
