650 > 1040

Moj and Pratt have done permanent damage to 1040's name for me.  That station has been dead to me for the last 5 years.

1040 and it's not even close.

Only reason 650 even exists is because they have the rights to Canucks games. Other than Satiar Shah and Auld the 650 cast is comprised of hacks and amateurs. Andrew Walker is the most despicable person in Vancouver sports media. Dude needs to be boycotted.

The ratings also reflect this. 1040 absolutely dominates 650 in numbers. Like really, really dominates. That's saying something when you have the rights holders getting smoked that badly.

1040's frequent guests are just soooo much more knowledgeable too. JPat and Ferraro are great as they have been for years. And Thomas Drance has absolutely taken the Vancouver hockey media world by storm this year. His hits are can't miss.

Hot-tip: Rink Wide with Andrew Wadden and JD Burke is the most entertaining hockey talk in the market right imo. Every Saturday from 11 - 3 on 1040. Check it out if you haven't already. It's become the only radio show I'll tune into religiously.

I don't listen to it on the radio but I do listen to the podcasts of the shows while I'm at work. I go with 650, not sure what TSN really has on deck in comparison. I like Scott Rintoul, I like Sat Shah, etc. I will still clear of anything with Andrew Walker though. Absolutely cannot stand him.

I don't prefer either to be honest.  Matt Sekeres from 1040 and Andrew Walker from 650 try to be polarizing figures but they end up just coming off of as being arrogant people who are inflexible in adjusting their point of views.   Its a real turn off and a shame that their co-hosts Blake Price and Sat Shah have to be paired to those two.

These are the segments that I generally turn to.

Scott Rintoul from 9-12pm, Bik Nizzar canuck central from 12-1pm on Sportsnet 650.  That is where the meat is for Sportsnet in terms of content.

Halford and Brough from 1040 6-10am, and 1040's postgame review with Blake Price/Jeff Patterson/Thomas Drance.

I often find that trending to one particular station you get particular narrative over time.  1040 are the negative nellys and the 650 group are ass kissers.

I think I am the rare breed who listens to both.  I find I listen to 1040 pre-game a LITTLE bit more but it was 650 for me yesterday.

Once in a while I start finding 650 a little too cheerleaderish.  Like I am aware than Quinn Hughes can skate well but thanks for reminding me every time lol

Both are fun though!  I'm not gonna hate on either one.  Some of you listen with an agenda I think.

May I remind some of you that a lot of our troubles were stirred up by 1040 over the last decade?

Do you guys remember who was responsible for starting goalie contraversies?  1040.

That station has been dead to me for a long time, and I can't have any respect for someone that tried to run Luongo out of town and ask for Vigneault to be fired.

I like 1040 more overall. Listen to Halford & Brough almost everyday at work (on podcast). Best show on either station IMO, only one I really care to listen to. Not crazy about Sekeras, or Moj, or JD Burke. Also I'd say 1040 has a better lineup of guests.

For pre/post game I'm mostly 1040 - I think Jpat does a great job - but I do flip to 650 occasionally.

Shah is really good, I don't mind Walker (he's good at what he does), and 650 does have some good guests - especially since they have the rights. (Burke, Friedman, Green exclusives, exc.)  But I mostly just check out their clips rather than follow the station.

This. I've grown disinterested in both networks because of the 'radio wars' fighting. If there is a sports equivalent of identity politics, this is it. Their bickering just comes across as petty and unprofessional.
