Hansen talked about this after game 4.  That's not how this team was built.  He then talked about being on the Sharks, a team that was built to run the other guys into the boards and they still lost to Hawks.  So I don't know, I mean we all feel like if we had a tough guy on the team it would make a difference, but it wouldn't.

Blues would still finish all their checks, that's just what they do.

I understand it's not how we're built.  But maybe allowing another team to run us like that as the refs check their FB profiles isn't a deterrent.

I like how we started...they were getting frustrated.  We were hard on the forecheck and using speed to take over.  But it's hard to sustain that pace too.

I'd just like some charges at them on occasion.  Just let them know "we're here".

If Jake isn't using his speed to burn them, maybe he could use his size a bit more?

I'm not worried about this because the defensive placeholders will be gone and our defensive prospects will replace them sooner than later.  Benning has a great plan, more defensive draft picks in last few years and we have good group of young defensemen coming up.  We'll take the hit in exchange for the playoff experience that our forwards get and will benefit us in a long run.  This is a long game that takes years to come to the fruition.  We are not quite there yet despite a good effort in first two games of the series.  .

We owned that period. Bad break on the ROR goal and the defensive issue on the Schenn goal.

We need to keep playing up tempo hockey if we want to win

We owned the first 12 minutes and Blues owned the last 8. Not even factoring in goals. It was literally like they flicked a momentum switch

Lol overreaction.

We'll get it back. Boys are playing well, just made a couple crucial mistakes

Optimism is great, unless they play perfect hockey from now on and maintain the energy they have dispite being wore down from hits (Blues with 17 hits vs 9), yeah. And it's those crucial mistakes that sucks the life out of a team.

The Blues punish the Canucks for making plays, why dont they return the favour? I never see a Blues player get hit hard after making a play, but you see the Blues players going out of their way to finish their checks way after the play.

I said it last game and Corey Hirsh this morning suggested it too.

We desperately need puck movers back there! Fanta and Benn hasn't been "bad" but they are the Blues favourite type of Dmen to go against. Both are slow to move the puck and handle it like grenades, the forwards cant get clean outlet passes allowing the Blues D to pinch.

I don't know why Baumgartner or Green can see this glaring issue. Juolevi and Rafferty are both bigger (not heavier) than Fanta and Benn, can skate from danger and most importantly make a good first pass!!

Completely agree. At this point, we need defenceman who aren't complete rocks on the back end. Juolevi and Rafferty are mobile, puck-moving dman that should at least get a look.

CDC you need to calm down. This happens every time we start losing. We've had a good first period just made two crucial mistakes. Boys will battle back and tie this. Still 40 minutes to play

I’d post Fire Green! but I already did and I swore I’d only post it once per thread.

that changed should've happened on this game. I fear Green will be too scared to make these changes in a possible elimination game! arghghghgh

Remember when Rome's hit on horton was so late???? It was 8/10's of a second after horton last touched the puck. blues for some reason get away with 2-3 seconds after the puck is gone. They were getting up to 4 seconds last year.
