[Proposal] 3 way that makes sense for Toronto-Minny-Vancouver

Recommended Posts

A trade that fits the needs of all 3 teams

To Minny: Boeser

To Toronto: Dumba and RFA rights to Stetcher

To vancouver: Nylander

Boeser gets to go home, live close to parents ,Minny gets scoring they need and he is part of foundation for them build around

Maple leafs trade offence for two sound defencemen which they need, without increasing cap too much, both mobile additions

Canucks get winger for Petterson or second line. They can't afford Stetcher and will give youth a shot and while Boeser's cap is less than Nylander today, Nylander is locked in longer and Boeser yr 3 salary is $7.5M and will be need to qualified even higher.

If the Canucks trade Boeser it's probably for a D and not a winger.

Toronto needs a more reliable defender than another offensive D who needs a strong D partner to cover for him.

Minnesota needs centres and not another winger.  Was again a main topic in Guerin's end of season media availability.  They would have no one to set Boeser up while in Vancouver he is playing with Pettersson - his scoring would likely drop in Minnesota.

The Wild are also slow and need more foot speed.  That's not Boeser.  He can do okay on a fast team as they can compensate for his lack of speed but the Wild can't.

Also they have Fiala, Kaprisov, Zuccarello who are all more comfortable at RW.  They could move sides but it's still too crowded on the wings while having wingers forced to C.  It's putting too much money into the wings while having a massive hole in the middle.  Staal has only 1 year left and is no longer a C1.  Parise and Zuccarello are unmovable so they need to make the best of the situation and put them in a spot where they can contribute.  Guerin was explaining that players with a certain cap hit have to play.

Minnesota had 15 more 5v5 goals than Vancouver this season - they were 6th in the league.  At all strength the Canucks only had 6 goals more and Vancouver had 13 empty nets to the Wild's 9.  The Wild moved Zucker to create a spot on the wing to add Kaprisov.

Guerin calls their D elite and his preference is to keep them intact but he realises that it might be the cost to pay to get a C1 or at least a solid C2.

If anything the Wild are more likely to just trade directly with Toronto - Nylander has more speed and can try playing C.

No thanks to taking a soft, lazy floater who needs a tourist visa to enter the defensive zone.  Boeser is twice the player and ten times the man compared to that worthless piece of garbage.  Let's not trade Boeser for a guy with negative value.

Sorry but anyone that says no to Boeser for Nylander is obviously out for lunch and isn’t capable of taking their Canucks glasses off lol

...and OP, I see this is as very realistic especially considering the playoffs Boeser is having. Not to mention the many previous times Brock has been in the trade rumour mill. I would rather the Canucks be the ones taking Dumba but at the same time, I can see them swapping Brock for another forward considering he was reported to be talked in trades for a winger such as Jason Zucker who was also with Minny at the time.

You mean a trade that makes sense for Toronto.

This trade doesn't make sense for Vancouver nor Minnesota.

Boeser for Nylander doesn't improve our team.

Minnesota is losing a top 3D that doesn't shy away from physical play in Dumba for Nylander, who is good but not going to drive a team's offence on his own.

Toronto gets a RHD that is under a good cap and trades Nylander, who they aren't going to be able to afford anyways. How convenient for Toronto.

Playoff Nylander isn't much better than Boeser. Regular season Nylander is (arguably) bit better but only marginally.

Nylander

6G-13P in 13 games.

22G-61P in 81 games.

20G-61P in 82 games.

7G-27P in 54 games.

31G-59P int 68 games.

Boeser

4G-5P in 9 games.

29G-55P in 62 games.

25G-56P in 69 games.

16G-45P in 57 games.

And Boeser never played a full season.

I was for drafting Nylander, but this doesn't make sense. Boeser has shown his willingness to improve in all areas while still being a goal scorer. His contract might be up two years earlier, but he's an RFA at the end of it, where Nylander would be unrestricted.
