Teams are really knowingly leaving Gillis unemployed. He’s a gold mine just waiting there.

The old guard of the league is showing its colours once again with regards to MG. What a disservice and embarrassment. Only because he was a forward thinker and better than them at equipping his team for success than they were (as it turns out, numerous years ahead of everyone else with technological implementations that gave our teams as much of an edge as possible).

I thought Gillis had a good interview with them lol

Must have bombed the interview. Or his NHL 20 trade simulator resulted in bad choices for him.

If it's like those behavorial interviews that they like doing I get it.

Q. what's your first move as GM of the Panthers?

A. Trade Ekblad to Vancouver for Eriksson, Roussel and Sutter.

Have you heard Gillis interviews re what he wants to do as a manager?  He want's more than any owner would likely give.  Forward thinker sure but for a guy who has rubbed people the wrong way his entire career......good luck with that.

Word is he always tried to screw over other GM's on every deal he could and wasn't well liked in the GM ranks.  If that is true I could see it being a factor.

Bill Zito has been close on a few jobs, apparently, so I'm not surprised he finally got a GM gig. Columbus has a really good team and they've been drafting well for awhile now (I mean, the brilliance of Jarmo Kekalainen and the rest of management passing on Poolparty for Dubois shouldn't be understated) and Zito has been a pretty big part of that. Curious what he does with the Panthers.

Zito, btw, was one of the guys I was hoping would replace JB if the Canucks had faltered out of the playoffs this year.

Still feel bad for Mike Gillis, dude deserves another GM job. Arizona?!?

I remember Drance did a interview with Doan this year. And Shane Doan said he was very impressed with the Canucks interview during free agency when Gillis interviewed him. He said the Canucks were doing stuff like sleep doctors that no other team every though of. They were lights years ahead of other teams said Doan
