You could probably make that trade work if Marky were under contract but as a pending UFA his rights are probably worth a 3rd round pick. If you were willing to make it Demko and Virtanen I suspect you you would get this deal done.

Frederik andersen 0.919 SV% age 26-27 UFA Traded on 2016 for  #30 (2016) and #50 (2017) a Late 1st and 2nd

jacob markstrom 0.919 Sv% age 30 UFA same price a early 2nd (2020) and a late 2nd (2021)

wouldn't really matter if he under contract or not if they want a #1 goalie the price is around there

at most canucks take a #41 2nd (2020) and a late pick at least for markstorm

It does matter. Leafs were likely able to have contract talks prior to the trade as he was signed the same day as the trade.

I think this trade is very realistic  and could happen..

Jake Bean - 59 GP - 48PTS  -2019-20 AHL

                     70GP -  40 PTS  2018-19 AHL

6'0 - 190 lbs - 22 yrs old...

 2nd rounder in 2020

 2nd rounder in 2021

Riemer ? - I would take in trade..

Virtanen 24--6'1 power forward should be a 20 goal scorer top 8 forward needs a change

Markstron 30 - 6'6 - Has injuries top 10 NHL goalie today ?  I would make this deal..

I don't think this is too  high 2 NHL players-- Getting to negotiate early with Markstrom is worth  late 2nd rounder..

Bean -and 2021 for Jake is fair? Jake is a 20 goal scorer still young lots of potential ...

Bean has put up great numbers in minors NHL is different not proven himself.-- adding 2nd rounder in 2021 just supports if Bean doesn't make NHL?

Yes I would make this kind of trade for sure...

I think your estimation on goalie value is a little out of date. No one is going to give up much of anything in a flat salary cap on someone they could potentially sign for free in a month.

Markstrom is not about to sign a contract, just to suddenly be traded out of the place he wants to stay.

End point here is, there's not a whole lot of validity in your proposal, but keep trying!

Based on this, Andersen was an RFA when he was traded. Makes a huge difference.

Andersen was a pending RFA at the time.

Toronto has agreed to terms on a new contract with Andersen, due to be a restricted free agent on July 1, inking him to a five-year deal.
