CRAZY_4_NAZZY
But all seriousness, weren't the Penguins trying to shop him? A little surprised they signed him. Edited September 18, 2020 by CRAZY_4_NAZZY
24K PureCool
So much for the rumor regarding him leaving the pens. Edited September 18, 2020 by 24K PureCool

Yup, Virtanen is a winger and McCann is a center... so that would put Virtanen in around 2.5-2.7/year if we're doing a direct comparison.

They still could, McCann for Staal would have been a better return for Minny imo. Jake should sign a 2 year 5-5.5m deal after seeing this. Slight pay edge to McCann as he can play C. Nuxfanabroad
Honestly, would like to see Pitt crash hard. The Minny-mee's hold their 2021 1st, so that fade-out(ala SJ pick to OTT style) makes for entertaining viewing. So often the Pens have been 1 lost paycheque from living rough; then they wind up with Mario, Jags, Cros & Malk beasties. Not fair!

Canucks could have drafted Jagr over Nedved...only if you could have do overs for all your picks down the road !

Trade bait for sure. JB already called him out for not performing as well as he should have (which was a bit foolish for trade marketability). Nuxfanabroad
If Tree returns, the 2014 haul could STILL pay huge dividends for the franchise.
JM_
I can see him still being on the trade block, at least now everyone knows the number. 1 1
Elias Pettersson
Well at least we know Jake won't get more than $3 million. Should we still trade him? I think it's best to keep him around another year and see how Kole Lind develops. If Lind can replace him on the 3rd line then we can flip Jake for a pick prior to the expansion draft. Not fair! while I mostly agree, Us complaining about Jagr is like Philly complaining that we were gifted Pettersson

Another thought would be to expose Jake in expansion. All those tools could be tempting no?

Only genius if his goal was to sign him for less, which I believe was his goal all along.
