peaches5
If he isn't signing with St.Louis it's because he wants a NMC. He has made it very clear he wants stability. St.Louis has given out way too many NMC/NTC and they are probably thinking they should stop handing them out.

And it sounds like guys actually want back loaded deals in the hope escrow goes down over the contract, so they get to keep more of their money. So you need to reverse that lol. well there you have it then. I guess you could take the risk... but for years 31 to 38? Is he going to be Shea Weber or Jason Garrison by then? its too much for us anyway. I'd rather keep the money, clear cap for 21/22 and offer sheet a nifty RFA. rekker
I suppose he can always circle back and sign. Just seems like a very fair deal to me.

And IIRC something about you can't go lower than 35% of the lowest amount of the first two years of a front load deal... or something.... Need more coffee for this Maybe he sees the writing on the wall? They're not exactly a young team. Maybe his agent is just leveraging everything they can? I would have thought long and hard at letting Tanev + walk and paying to clear some salary at $8-$8.5m x 7... But $9m+ is getting awful hard to swallow, particularly in the current financial climate. I mean the guy is good but... That's just it. 8 X 8 = 64. 7 x 9 = 63. Going to take at least 9 per year, maybe more. Time to walk away as he's 30 already. AP has the means and the interest to pick his destination now to set up him and his children in a place for years to come. I think sometimes us Vancouverities are spoiled by where we live, but just because someone is born somewhere, it doesn't mean they want to spend the rest of their lives there. Ilya Mikheyev
Jeremy Rutherford: Quote The Blues’ latest offer is believed to be eight years at $8 million per season, which sources say is less than Alex Pietrangelo is willing to accept. But what has also contributed to the two sides being unable to find common ground is that the captain’s camp still wants to know the structure of the contract — specifically, whether it will include buyout protection in the form of a signing bonus at the end of the deal and a no-movement clause. I don't think it makes sense to assume either way and I think this whole debate on kids wanting to stay is kind of mute unless if actually stated by Piet that he wants to leave. If anything, all records indicate he doesn't. Edited September 25, 2020 by The Lock

To be fair, I doubt AP is living at the crime infested ghettos. He's probably living at the nicer part of town. It would be like telling all potential UFA to stay away from Vancouver as the DTES is all full of junkies and rampant with property crime and assault. Lets just say I doubt the Canucks players are living right beside Oppenheimer park, lol.

And all those players, and current players for the Wings, don't live anywhere near crime ridden areas. Hell, they don't even live near upper-middle class people or neighborhoods. Same for anyone playing in any city. Not as if the Vancouver players are living on East Hastings or Surrey.

Like, probably just New York, as there are no homes in Manhattan, just condos. If you live in a city and have a family, chances are you have a massive house with a backyard.
