This is a luxury we can't afford. Save the cap space for a gritty experienced top 4 dman. Demko is ready for prime time.

I have to agree. Canucks have relied on both goalies to be a better team than they are. (We are not the 83 Oilers that score at will)

If it is only 1 of the 2 we can afford, I opt for the younger, cheaper 24 yr old Demko.

Markstrom cleared waivers at Demkos age, no way Demko would,  there is so much growth to come and look forward too in Demko

The Oilers won  a Cup with a roster of 23 yr olds and a 21 yr old goalie and a 22 yr old Coffee (Hughes)

Stick with the Youth (No one knows when hockey will be back to full seasons again as well)

If we're so concerned with cap room then it has to be Demko. I realize he was average during the season but his playoff performance was so good. In a perfect world we keep both, but Seattle will grab Demko for sure.

Yes.

I agree.

Man would it be nice to have them together for one or two more seasons. Could be an elite 1-2 punch in net if balancing the workload and would be perfect for our back to back cups.

Demko is the future. Markstrom has been really good.  Benning will not budge on giving Markstrom trade protection. So the pitch is hey Marky, we will give you 5x5 with no NMC. This is Lehner money and term.

Up to you buddy to beat out Demko this coming year and prove that we should protect you over him in the expansion draft. If you lose out and want another location we will trade you - give us your top picks and we will try to accomodate a trade to one of them.

Otherwise Nux move on.

If the numbers make sense I would love to see Marky back on maybe a 3-4 year contract (He will be 31 in Jan.). Leave him exposed in the draft, but if the rumours of his asking price is true we may be totally out of his ballpark.

Demko's play in the season was not amazing and do you let a goalie walk based off 3 playoff games? Unless you can bring in a solid 1B backup that can take 25-30 games off Demko. Although all the goalies like that in a good price range are same if not older than Markstrom (ala Crawford or Lundqvist)

Both. Ride Marky for another season, and trade him at the TDL for a 1st rounder.

Expect him to get Lehner money (Less than we've thought), and not a trade clause to be seen.

Maybe Jim will ruffle league feathers and sign Marky to a single year deal, so we don't even have to give Seattle a second thought.

lmao.

Ya Marky takes 5 million on a 1 year deal,  risk injuries etc., (may never get that type of money ever again) rather than sign minimum $25 + million guaranteed dollar retirement life set up forever guaranteed contract... Okee dokee then...

Marky knowing this, Why would he allow Vancouver decide where he plays out his career when he can clearly choose that on his own.

aka UFA. ..
