We have depth at forward and in net, but D could be tough.
I’m curious what Benning will do.

I know this will sound nuts, but I’d explore trading Horvat while he’s cheap.

Gaining possession by winning face offs is key, but he might bring in enough to complete the “rebuild” with more quality youth.

Tough to replace him, yes. I understand all his benefits to the team, but it just might be a crazy sleek pre-expansion move too.

It's interesting. Trade while value is high. Pete free to be new captain. Bo lacks a bit of greasiness that would make him untouchable for me. But I'm not sure about it. He is awesome.

Something's wrong.  He just seemed lost in the playoffs.

But something is also right when a guy is on pace for 21 goals on the third line.

A really hard player to gauge.

He didn't get played to set an example in the old school way. It hurt him and it hurt the team. Principles more important than winning.

weird how does that work hughes has 77 games played already plus playoffs

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to be protected.  Although the handful of games he played burned a year off his contract it didn't count as a year pro.  Some weird college rule.

Inconsistency is one of the issues for sure. Inconsistent fitness levels are one of the issues.

Where would you put Jakes worth on trade?

What I see in Jake is a guy who, when given the stage on the top 6 or even top 3, is capable of meeting the challenge and then some. Stick him on the 3rd or 4th line and you're gonna get a plugger.

He was gassed playing top six minutes. Out of shape, common for him.

I didn't notice. I did notice the desperation move of putting him in the top 6 when we were in danger of elimination to St louis and how we immediately started the come back. Then he was dropped down again once victory was secured.

But that's what I mean. He isn't in shape coming to camp so they punish him, the team and the fans. Old school. I'd punish him in ways not involving ice time.

I'd consider that for(approx) 0.00001% of a second, then reach a speedy conclusion!

How many number 8 picks make a dent in the NHL? I'd be a bad lawyer because I don't know the answer. But I'm guessing less than half.

Really? Was plain as day to me. Couldn't last full shifts.
