Popular Post -DLC-
For me, it was watching as our young stars were targeted. Without having a guy who can say "NO" as a deterrent, Quinn, in particular, was subject to a lot of crap as his amazing talents were on display. It's a double edged sword....being so good that you're noticed because you're....noticed. I had a feeling he was injured at one point and not just playing unsure/tentative as some were suggesting. Playing "scared"....I didn't really buy that but was open to it being a possibility. I'm actually reassured knowing it wasn't due to a mental stumbling block as he questioned things and that it was just his body needing rest and recovery. I don't want him to change his game....Petey too. It's important to have pushback...Petey has sort of set the tone that he really isn't afraid and won't shy away from puck battles, etc. He has had to adjust but is such a total team player that he contributes even if he can't be "the" guy all the time. That his mixing it up keeps the opponents guessing but he's still super effective. The growth process and acclimatization to the league and refs that, at times, turn a blind eye and don't get it right were likely a cause of concern, at times, for me. How would they address the attention they were getting...especially with officiating that sometimes misses the mark and can set a dangerous tone out there. I don't call it the "worst" thing but I wince every time one of our stars gets hauled down into the boards or clocked with a cross check that could do damage. The league inconsistency is still a big part of that for me, although I feel like it's improving as our "new" team identity sheds the history of former teams. I hated that Myers seemed to trigger some of that "same old" and worried that we had yet another player under the spotlight. It sets a dangerous precedent when it's lopsided and allows one team to get away with stuff while another is handcuffed and unable to respond. It changes the tone and momentum. That's when you do need a guy who can take care of what the refs won't/don't. Establish boundaries. I hated Sven's fading out too...I know it started prior to this season but I always felt like he had a lot to contribute and the ugly side of injuries stole that away. He could be a game changer and had energy that reminded me of Honey Badger...sad he's a missing puzzle piece that held promise for me. I don't have a "worst" thing away from these ideas because, for me, it was a great season. Aside from the obvious....COVID....that was just so strange to navigate initially. Losing sports and not know when we'd get them back. At a time where we were isolated and had to stay home...that was a huge black hole for me. But that's just a no brainer. It's been nice to feel somewhat "normal" again with the return of hockey/football/tennis (my go to's right now)...the adjustment was tough when these things weren't there. Although there were some out there who were really skeptical about it all, I held hope that they could get things done. And the NHL has really impressed me with how they've done that...was no easy feat. So a worst that they've managed to turn into a best case scenario. I applaud all who pulled this thing off so we could have a SCF. LOL at my tldr post to a one liner of a topic. How I roll I guess..... 2 2 1

Just his body wasn't cooperating. But good list other than that. Yep, can't disagree. 1
Noble 6
The fact that the young core proved they can do some damage in the Playoffs on their own merit, making some of the overpaid veterans that hold the team back cap wise look even worse. IBatch
Honestly I don’t think it’s happened yet. This year truly couldn’t have gone much better - like a movie script almost. Yes there were some things that didn’t work out - Ferland not at least performing like Ferland comes to mind. All the core players did their part. “What are you going to do about Horvat?!l”. One day could be legendary. I bet a lot of recent/new fans have lots to talk about for years after our unexpected run. Based on CDC polls alone most considered this a big win just passing MIN. That was my personal line in the sand - if we lost the season was questionable - given how far we ended up going and what happened during that time this season is 100% beyond reproach IMO. So will just go with no fans in the seats. That was the worst thing about the season. And maybe Ron McLean. He’s showing his true colours - no way he’d be on TV without his history with Don Cherry. 1

Maybe if we sign JV long term at 4 million and he becomes Neely 2.0 then we could discuss the comparisons. The only way we could do that is doing a re-set and hoping the kids fail. Not hard to do either just don’t sign any of our big three UFAs..is that what you really want? (And no JV isnt and time to move on or maybe one more bridge deal). Phil_314
Not sure I agree with those saying we didn't reach the WCF... the team was dead tired and had nothing left in the tank (though Demko was playing in God mode). The worst things IMO are the flat cap prohibiting spending this off-season, and I'd also say Virtanen's stalled progress. As much as the bottom-6 guys were overpaid, Jake doesn't even show effort to warrant being a former 1st round pick anymore, given that you get outhustled by a free agent signing upstart in MacEwen. Also, not a "worst thing" but "room for improvement" would definitely be the blue-line. Too many games where the goalie had to stand on his head and steal a win. CupIsComing
Not much to be disappointed about this season! Worst? Ferland injury (please stop fighting...for now). Luongo recapture. Brackett and Malhotra departures. Covid break and no fans in arenas upon resumption. But still. in the big scheme of things...small potatoes. ruilin96
List of top 5 least favourite games from this season (Regular Season + Playoffs): 1). Qualifying Round, Game 1: 3-0 Loss vs. Minnesota. Not going to lie, this game was deflating, and that's after months of build up and the team came up flat and laid an egg. This one is ranked ahead of the Game 7 loss vs Vegas because it is more deflating. Losing that game puts the team in a huge hole and historically 87% of the teams who lost game 1 in a best of 5 series end up losing the series (in fact the Canucks were the only team out of the 8 teams who lost game 1 in the qualifying series to come back and win this year, every other team end up losing their series). I would hate it if the Canucks lose to Minnesota (a team the Canucks are more than capable of beating) in the play-in round. That round to me was the only must-win round in this years playoffs. Once we won that round, the rest of the playoffs are gravy for me. I am so glad they came back and won the series and then went on this good run. 2). Round 2, Game 7: 3-0 Loss vs. Vegas. Eliminated, season is over. The fact that the league scheduled game 6 and 7 back to back is stupid, if there is even 1 day of rest between games 6 and 7 we probably would've won the series. 3). 8-6 Loss vs. Pittsburgh: That game to me was the most embarrassing lost in the entire regular season. It was 6-3 with less than a period of hockey left and we blew it and lost 8-6. 4). 6-5 SOL vs. Washington: We led the game 5-1 at one point and head into the third period with a 5-2 lead. This game was just as embarrassing as the Penguins game. The reason this game ranks lower than the Pittsburgh game was we atleast picked up a point by losing in the shootout where that Pittsburgh game we lost in regulation. 5). 9-2 Loss vs. Tampa Bay: plain and simple, the score is saids it all.
