PREDICT THE SCORE CONTEST: Wrap Up and feedback

Well, despite the pause that was still a fun season and playoffs.  I've enjoyed running this little contest and plan to be back for the 2020-21 season, whatever that might look like.

 

 

First off, congrats to @Chickenspear for winning the return-to-play version and to @FijianCanuck for winning the original season.  @Chickenspear clinched the victory by picking the series winner and game winner tonight, as well as being the only person to pick Hedman to win the Conn Smythe.

Now here's the part where you can make recommendations for next year.  A few questions to consider:

 

In the original season I rotated through a bunch of different bonus questions.  In return-to-play I stuck with the same bonus question.  Which did you prefer?

 

During the original season I increased the points available as the season moved along.  Was this good or should I have kept it the same throughout?

 

During the original season I often had bonus questions that were a 50/50 proposition (such as which team takes more shots).  Was this a good approach, or too easy to get points?

 

Should there be prizes?

 

Any other thoughts or ideas for next year?

For your questions:

I prefer to rotate the bonus questions.

Increasing the points as the season moving along, provides opportunity to the behind participants to make-up.

Sometimes 50/50 questions are fine, especially for the behind participants.

For me, prizes are not too important.

 

In addition, I suggest to add how many wins or points of Canucks for a road trip, or home games.

It's all good. I like how you mix it up. I had fun when I participated, that's the whole point. You made it FUN. Just do what you do, as I think most on CDC appreciate it.

Thanks for hosting, @goalie13. It's nice to have a contest to look forward on the side. As for recommendations, I think each person has a different opinion, but I prefer the "Predict The Score Contest" to be a simple contest as the name suggests. I think predicting the score and one bonus question (with a 50/50 chance) should be good enough -- nothing more, nothing less. I also think the points awarded for the score, winner and bonus question should be fixed and the same for every game.

First let me say thanks for putting in the work running this contest, and I'll agree with Vintage, I think it's good the way it is.

Actually, just thought of something... maybe we do a stat related prediction every 20 games or so, like in games 1-20 how many goals/assists/points/fights/hits etc, does 'player x' get, or what is Van's PP/PK%/Goal Differential over a 20 game stretch, or even preseason, like which darkhorse player(s) makes the opening night roster, who wins what league trophy, etc. If that's feasible to you.

I really enjoy this - adds a bit of excitement and anticipation for the games.

 

The different bonus questions made it more exciting and kept it fresh for me anyways.

 

I dont mind easier and harder bonus questions as they all balance out in the end.

 

I prefer consistent point potential throughout the season, but am happy regardless (or is it irregardless hahahaha just kidding)

 

Bragging rights is plenty for a prize ;)
