It was nice to be Canada's team for that short minute. Oh well.

Canucks should really consider moving the likes of Pettersson and Hughes for high picks since their window has been slammed so violently closed with this news.

Has an RFA ever done that?

De La Rose with St Louis last month.  He was on a 900K aav and a final year at 950K which would have been a qualifying offer of just under 1M but extended for 1-year at 700K.

I feel like jordan schroeder or some other bust took less than his q.o. with the canucks in the not too distant past, too.

Etem did not get qualified and then signed after for cheaper with Vancouver.  Some players take a bit less than their qualifying offer to get either a 1-way deal or a higher salary in the minors.

Malgin and De La Rose signed for less before their qualifying offers were even handed out and were already on 1-way deals.  They might have felt that they wouldn't get qualified so it was better to have the certainty of a contract than none.

schroeder took $600k instead of his $850k q.o. in 2013 for the coveted one way contract on a one year deal.

edit: the only real difference with this situation is that malgin i'm sure was told he wouldn't be qualified whereas schroeder was qualified.
