Crazy. Had a great season last year, and only 33. He should still be an effective player for a few more years.

That said, have to respect it. Guy has made over $40M in his career, and didn’t want to deal with another training regiment and a season with the COVID concerns. Better to just ride off into the sunset and enjoy time with his family.

ya the coyote owner doesnt wanna pay 58 million out to oel in next 7 yrs    and he will only waive to canucks or bruins  they dont have the high ground just like us in kesler trade podz or hog gets phone hung up  eriksson helps them meet cap floor with only 5 mill going to louie but 12 mil in cap hit over 2 yrs  saves owner 7 mill in actual cash  best believe  they love that idea  guess we find out maybe today

https://www.tsn.ca/philadelphia-flyers-defenceman-matt-niskanen-leaning-towards-retirement-1.1534601.                     Hmm, retires with one year left on his deal at 5 million. Wish LE had this kind of character and terminate a contract he's collected 31 if 36 million. All while being an utter disaster signing.

Boohoo.

Like he's the only player in the world (all sports included) to have done that.   On the other hand, he would probably be one of the first idiot to walk away from 5M$ for not living up to his contract.
