Junkyard Dog
He'd be a good 4th liner if he came cheap. Not for us though.
Baer.
Bizarre to me they thought the original contract was a good idea. Saw this coming years ago
JeremyCuddles
One of Holland's old boys club contracts. It was gross the moment pen hit paper.

Coconuts
I'm still surprised he got that contract to begin with 1
Monty
The Wings already had a load of cap space. This is just smart to dump someone who's just taking up a valuable roster spot on the 4th line to a hungry rookie who can produce more.
Googlie
Exactly. And we have rookies galore in Vancouver but they don't stand a chance because Green won't play them, doesn't trust them, etc etc yadda yadda. (ofc Benning isn't entirely blameless either as he keeps giving Green lots of "trustworthy" vets to pad his roster with)

Yes - but just making the point that it's what we should be doing, not chasing or lusting after every free agent that comes available. Benning should take a page out of Stevey Y's playbook. A few weeks ago JB said that he didn't think he'd be active in this FA season, yet here he is, seemingly following up every potential acquisition although we have so many cap problems of our own. Other point I was making re Monty's post was that maybe Benning realizes that it's not going to work giving Green a stablefull of young prospects because he just isn't going to dress tham, unlike Yzerman who is dumping Abdelkader to make room for cheaper, hungrier rookies (Monty 's point)

Googlie
I have always liked Abdelkader. Over his 739 game career he has had 1754 hits (9.55 per 60 mins) and 344 blocked shots (1.87 per 60 mins) Scored 106 goals with 25 of these on the power play and 146 assists (thus 0.34 ppg) Has taken 1714 faceoffs during his career winning 50.5%
