It ain’t over, but bennings bottom 6 spending is costing the Canucks at this point in the rebuild BIG time Loui, Baerstchi and Luongo are costing us way more and they were suppose to be top 6 players. As for Luongo can't pin this one on Benning.

grandmaster
JB screwed the pooch with cap management. Good on drafts but terrible with money. It’ll be interesting how this plays out...
24K PureCool
I can't really blame JB on Bear either. The guy was a steal for his top 6 production before the concussions.
250Integra
Well to be fair, the Luongo cap recapture penalty doesn’t help...

sonoman
Unfortunately, the sticking point. Do the team a solid and hang them up Louie.

Or perhaps we want to shift our cap focus to OEL who is a #1/2 dman instead of a top 6 winger where we have plenty of prospects ready to jump into a easier hole to fill. 4
Devron
A lot of factors cap wise not just by Benning but also crap luck with injuries. Loui cap recapture, Flat cap. But tons of money coming off the books next couple years. That’s the way I look at it
Yung1
If this is because it came down to OEL or Toffoli... I think I like this move. We'll see.

The penalties seem fine and we could save close to 2 mill on cap space

I don't mind either player but Ferland's $3.5M is basically mystery money since he may or may not be able to play but that cap hit has to be considered. Unless Ferland is for sure a LTIR candidate and will not be cleared to play, there's always the possibility that $3.5M needs to be accommodated at any point in the season. Makes it pretty hard to plan.
DeNiro
I hope Benning didn’t waste all his time trying to unload bad contracts without a sweetener, because that would have been useless.

The Lock
You know what? Let's look at this another way. Perhaps Benning learns from this and tries to be better with contract signings.
