Stelar
Not worried about losing the players. Just worried about losing the character.
garthsbutcher
Time to add some size and grit to the back end. Clearly lacking in the playoffs. Loved Tanev and Stetch but No way I give Tanev that term and Troy can be replaced for the same money by a bigger meaner d man. awalk
Don't understand the vision here. Less than Benn and a better defenseman.
rekker
Two years at 1.7? I have an issue with not matching that. I got to think JB has some other players in mind but sheesh, tough not to worry about the depth now.
Popular Post Elias Pettersson
You all wanted Benning to improve the defense. Looks like that is what he is trying to do. You don't improve it by bringing back the exact same players. I am sure something is cooking. I smell the heat. Benning will bring us a top 4 right handed Dman. Just be patient... 2 6 2
RakuRaku
Thank you Troy!! You'll be missed!!! What a sad day for Canucks fans... Barrie gone, Stecher gone... Looks like JB I'd planning to roll the dice on Juolevi, Rafferty and Rathbone to fill the holes in the backend.
R3aL
Well this would be an immediate upgrade in size and our overall defense I believe: hughes-Pietrangelo edler-myers juolevi-ceci But cap problems and it more difficult and sounds like he going to vegas need ferland and Eriksson off the books asap

It was painfully obvious in the playoffs where we could not take the body and breakup the cycle. Edited October 10, 2020 by rekker 2 1

I think both Benn and Fanta are more effective. Disagree. It might not always look pretty, but Stecher gets results. The times he gets overmatched in-zone defending against larger players tends to skew the eye test on Stecher IMO. He’s very solid in the neutral zone, and he gives it his all in his own zone, and manages quite well most of the time, despite his size. When you look just at his results, he’s been able to post some of the team’s best goal suppression numbers, while playing highly defensively skewed minutes. And his full picture advanced stats (WAR/GAR etc) show an overall positive on-ice impact that’s actually placed him among our top Dmen the past few years. I don’t consider him “marginal” at all. When a player can produce overall results like Stecher, I don’t really care how he does it, I just value him accordingly. He’s a good third pairing D, who can fill-in as a top-4, and he’s consistently overachieved in his on-ice impact while playing that role. 1

I can't wait for 2 offseasons from now. SO much cap will be freed up right when we're cup competitive. EternalCanuckFan
I assume management is expecting Rafferty to be a potential replacement for Stecher and, with Barrie gone, might be turning to someone like Hamonic or Vatanen at this stage. I love Stetcher as much as anyone but when he fills in top 4 it's bad. We need to fill his depth but he loses a lot of one on one battles. A lot.

Popular Post Warhippy
Loved Troy. Heart of a warrior. Shame he left. Seems it was a deal we could have offered but there's obviously something in the works we're not privy to. We don't change by doing the same thing. Wish him well. 1 2

I don't know why people are overreacting to losing a 5th/6th defenceman that no teams except the Detroit Red Wings showed interest in lol. I'm glad JB is treating the off season as a business and removing emotions out of his descions. Some fans want us to improve the defence but don't want change... I said it before, Rafferty can step in and replace Stech and I feel management feels the same way. Dude was an AllStar in his first AHL year. 3 5
