Have a feeling Eklund could go #1, followed by Beniers, then Power.

I'm not sure Power is that much better than everyone else that a team will want to take a Dman 1st overall.

Wouldn't surprise me. Would that be the first time a Swede has gone 1st OA?

Im kinda the opposite with those three if I had to order them Id go, Johnson, McTavish, then Guenther. I dont really see Johnson as a boom or bust player. He has elite skill and IQ, producing at the level he did as a freshman in the NCAA, I dont see any reason that it wouldn't translate to the NHL unless his development stalls. Guys like Makar, Fox, Hughes, Zegras, Farabee, B Tkachuk, Norris, Caulfield, ect have all transitioned quite nicely. Guenther is a great sniper but I think we need a playmaker or power forward center more.

I think we need another top six player on a cheap contract. If Geunther is available, I think we should take him. He's probably more offensively gifted than McTavish, and might have a greater chance of "booming" than Johnson.

Anaheim would most likely have to add an additional Piece

This is Jack Eichel

Zegras and Eklund wouldn’t cut it, would need to add another young roster player

Doesn't Eichel have health issues?

Okay, new prediction lol

BUF - Eklund

SEA - Beniers

ANA - Power

NJ - Clarke

CBJ - Wallstedt

DET - Cossa (DET was targeting Wallstedt, and Cossa might be just as good)

SJ - McTavish

LA - Johnson

VAN - Hughes  (the Hughes brothers in the same D core, could be some healthy competition between the siblings, which would elevate both their games)

And an unprecedented 2 goaltenders taken in the Top 10

A Malhotra would be nice. But I don't think we should be using our 9OA on a player like that.

If we traded down, and he's available, sure...

Sure, but if Malhotra would be worst case senario it would be worth a punt. Of course we hope for better though, but we need players who can compete… and his playmaking didn’t look too bad in the cideos shown.

I feel like if Vancouver gets any one of the top 4 defencemen in this draft. The majority of fans will be happy. I keep seeing the same predicted forwards in discussions but we all know the draft can shift very easily. A couple picks not on the radar. Usually happens every year. We may get our defensemen after all

It’s ironic that you say that it takes a defenseman so long to take to develop. The fact that we don’t have too many top tier defenseman in our system is because we don’t take many of them, especially RHD’s. We have not had many, if any, prominent RHD prospects in our system.

Idk i just don't see much of a need - we have Hughes, Rathbone, Juolevi, Woo. That's a really solid young D-corps. The remaining need to be filled - size and defensive responsibility is a commodity that's not hard to find. Hughes and Rathbone give us 2 really solid puck moving offensive defensemen. Just look at the availability of big stay at home d-men in the UFA pool this year - you can take your pick of like 5-6, and they're not that expensive.

On the other hand - if we didn't have Hughes and Rathbone, I'd completely agree with you. Consider as well that a really talented goal scorer can come in and make an impact on your team immediately after they're drafted, so you get 2-3 years of scoring on a 900k ELC contract. Instead of spending 5m in free agency trying to find a goal scorer in his late 20s and paying 5m+, draft a Guenther (or someone like Caufield like Montreal did) and you get real bang for buck.

Worked out great with Petey too.

We have Podkolzin common night in on his ELC, who is bigger and better than the squirt the Habs have.

Don't get me wrong - im stoked on Podz. Very happy we picked him over Caufield.

If Eklund of Lysell fall to us at nine, then we’d be getting a guy similar to Caufield, but still bigger and better.  Canucks win!:towel:
