Any guy in peticular you got your eye on at 9? I got my fingers crossed one of the D or Dylan Guenther slip. That would be huge.

Honestly, if Clarke slips to us that would be nice but Johnson apparently has the highest ceiling skill wise of this draft class. And Mactavish has an enticing well rounded game. If we were able to get any one of these gems, I'd be stoked but full disclosure, when we drafted Petey I had never heard of him and what a home run that turned out to be, so whoever we get in the 1st round should be a stud!

I was all about McTavish a couple months ago, but I really don't think he will be there at 9, so I moved on. Clarke would be best case scenario for our postitial needs.

I was all aboard the Glass train Peteys year. Hindsight, eh?

I'd still be ok with the Nucks drafting him, but I sure can't abide someone defending that knowing it could be my niece or daughters video being shown off without her consent or permission.

Not me. There's so many things prospects have to overcome to become good players, lets not pick one thats demonstrated some really bad judgment and from what I've seen on it, hasn't done much to make up for it yet. Maybe he will someday.

Given how hard it is to judge prospects this draft I'd rather reach for a high character kid than one we know has issues.

I have two grown boys.... They are both gentlemen.  I can't say the same for myself when I was younger.  It was a different time, I wasn't not a gentlemen per say but definitely not respectful at times.  Yes it was a sign if the times but also how I was raised.  My father wasn't a good partner to my mom or his other girlfriends.  As a result, he's on his own and probably should be.  I have learned along the way and have become a very good loving consistent partner... My boys though men now, see this and we all hold a lot of mutual respect for each other.  I am blessed, but I worked on it, and still do.  My boys see this, and the results are obvious by seeing how they conduct themselves with there partners and with others.  I'm very proud of them.

Anyway, my point is, you son watch's your actions and pays attention to your every word... Way more then we may be aware of... Especially the stuff we try to hide from them.... They see or feel these things.  If you can practice what you preach and follow through with your words.... But most importantly treat your wife girlfriend, mother of your child or children, your mother, grandmother... All women you associate with then you will raise a gentlemen 99% of the time.

I made mistakes when I was younger with women but I learned from my mistakes. My son won’t hear me say a bad word about women and just sees me treat them with utter respect, He will be a great man I have no doubt about that. I’m being the example I needed when I was younger. I’m not worried about him

Really happy to hear how you are with your family.... Like you say, you should have nothing to worry about.  Keep it going.... We need more gentlemen in this at times messed up world!

I just can’t see Clarke falling to 9.  If it does great!  Take him for sure.  Hughes is so young still.  He’s nearly a full year younger than most of those other players.  I think he’s going to improve the most of that group because he’s still got so much maturing left to do.  Love to get him too!  Damn, so excited for Friday!

I agree but Quinn Hughes should not have fallen to us at 7 no way.

so who knows!

me too I’m with you!!!! So excited

Think I caught a bit of the heat stroke this morning and spent the day in bed. Now I'm awake tonight so figure I'd do something fun. Expectations for next season for some of the top 2021 prospects. To be specific, this is what I would want to see from each player to indicate they are on track to eventually reaching their ceiling.

Owen Power: 30 points in 80 games NHL. Or a p/g NCAA.

Matt Beniers: 40 points in 30 games NCAA, 10 in 7 WJC.

William Eklund: 45 in 40 SHL, 15 in 7 WJC (he hasn't played much C lately, but Holtz-Eklund-Raymond could eat the tournament alive).

Dylan Guenther 105 in 50 WHL, 7 in 7 WJC.

Luke Hughes: 25 in 30 NCAA, 5 in 7 WJC.

Brandt Clarke: 60 in 50 OHL, 6 in 7 WJC.

Simon Edvinsson: 10 in 40, 4 in 7 WJC.

Mason McTavish: 80 in 50 OHL, 7 in 7 WJC.

Kent Johsnon: 45 in 30 NCAA, 12 in 7 WJC.

Chaz Lucius: 40 in 30 NCAA, 8 in 7 WJC.

Cole Sillinger: 90 in 50 WHL, 6 in 7 WJC.

Fyodor Svechkov: 15 in 40 KHL, 7 in 7 WJC.

Its not that anyone is thinkin Podkolzin is crap, 2019 is just shaping up to be a very strong draft year especially from the top 10 picks. Guys like Hughes, Kakko, Dach, Cozens, Seider, Byram, Zegras, Caufield look to be on their way to be top players for their teams. Other guys like Newhook, Turcotte, and Krebs are developing nicely as well. I think 8-12 spot in a re-draft is fair depending on opinion. Hoglander could past Podkolzin in a re-draft ranking soon as well. Hoglander is third in NHL goals scored from this draft behind only Kakko and Hughes.

Team USA is looking really good going forward, the American talent in that draft, damn! I think Podkolzin will be fine, people should temper their expectations though on what hes going to do for us this season. If he plays in all key situations and hes got 15 goals, or about 30 pts, thats good enough for me. If he helps us win games thats all that matters

Kent Johnson looks like the safe pick but Guenther has more upside so I'd be happy with either or, of course would be great if Brandt Clarke fell to us. I have this really really bad hunch about Mason McTavish. He has Max Domi written all over him. Pretty good for a couple of years and then a nosedive

And Clarke and Hughes at 7 and 8.  If Detroit or SanJose go Wallstedt, the we might actually see Hughes or Clarke fall to us.

Id honestly be ok if Benning were to somehow jump to a few spots to grab Luke to swap picks a 2nd rounder with either Gadj or Lind.

Shoot!  I'd be very happy if Podz got 30 points this year.  I don't think many here expect him to produce much point wise this year anyway.  I would be ecstatic if he reaches more than 65 points in any season.

How does he look like a safe pick to you?  I assume you believe his skill set will translate over well?  What happens when he finds that he has less space and time and can't dangle around everyone?  My question about Johnson is, does he have the high hockey IQ?  Peteys does and that's why he can adjust.  To the elite nhl forwards and D that have a game plan to play him.  Look at Johnny hockey... Amazing skill, undersized and still very effective... Until the book was out on him and now he isn't nearly as effective as he was years past.  You have to adapt, especially if you're undersized.  I get a Johnny hockey vibe... Maybe a better attitude but nevertheless, if he doesn't have the IQ, he will fade away a few years down the line.

His speed will translate in the big league. Thats the thing that stands out to me, is he going to score 30 goals? Hes got the talent to do it but having great wheels can make him a roster player, being effective forechecking, getting loose pucks etc. think Kyle Palmieri. Gaudreau has great hands but hes not exactly a burner add to him being undersized.

Regarding gentleman: Do you consider Nikita Kucherov being a gentleman? I assume you have watched this video after the Lightning won the cup.
