So we can free up $6 million in cap space so we can get a partner for Hughes.  We have Hughes, OEL and Rathbone.  We don’t need Schmidt anymore.

There is zero reason to dump him cheap. Why devalue him? He's a top 4 D.

Would sure be nice if Holtby could land us a pick in the next few rounds.

And this won't be a popular take - but I'd deal Pearson for one as well - but not if I were the guy that just re-signed him...so that aint gonna happen.

Yeah that's usually a dick move for a gm to do and it sours player opinions of the organization but I hear ya works be great to get another 2nd / 3rd

Schmidt played the right side for us last year - where we have Myers and.........Woo.

No, if he was worth a 3rd last off season, he would have been traded. He has no value at this point.

you'd be surprised, GMs don't make judgement on one season and definitely don't disregard the variable known as covid. Schmidt was worth a 3rd because the team was trying to move his salary and every other GM knew it. You get better than a 3rd for him any day of the week lol.

I like both the Jets picks.

Not surprising - Chevy is a boss.

He has done a lot I can praise. I was thinking of him last night. JB has jumped into the deep end with the OEL trade and looks like he is going to go all in with JT and Bo in their prime. I feel Chevy has been to passive. He didn't do enough the last two years and may have missed his window. I know a lot of Jets fans and they feel the same way.

I thought about that too...  they were way too passive over the last few years, especially the year when they had that stacked defense before Byfuglien retired.
