Hate to say it but LA will get smoked by Colorado again.  Our team is over their covid funk and I can see them winning 2 out of their 5 games remaining.  That would make us leapfrog both LA and San Jose unfortunately.

That would give us the 9th overall pick.

9th overall guys, stop daydreaming of getting the 5th overall, it ain't happening and I do hope that I'm wrong.

If by some miracle we happen to land the #1 or #2 pick, I would want the Canucks to take a long hard look at William Eklund. A bit undersized but he plays the game reminiscent of Stutzle - at least to me. I believe he has one of the highest ceilings, if not the highest ceiling of the entire draft.

If are lucky enough to win the lottery (draft 1 or 2) we will select either Power or Clarke.  Any other guy would be a reach, except (maybe?) Hughes at two.

I'd be fine with Clarke, Power scares me though, I've heard reports his decision making and IQ is questionable. Canucks need more high tempo, high hockey IQ play drivers!

Excellent point.  A player can have all the physical gifts, but if they’re a dumb hockey play then no thanks.  Im confident we will be getting a guy with good skills and smart too.

I encourage everyone to watch this interview (near the end of the video) so you can see why Mason Mactavish is my go-to guy at 9th overall.

This is a side-by-side interview with Brandt Clarke and you can just see the difference in maturity between Mactavish and Clarke - the latter seems a bit immature... or maybe it's just that Mason Mactavish is so mature for his age.

Mactavish is HUGE, he captained Team Canada at the U-18's in Shane Wright's absence, and he put up 1st line numbers in the Swiss league - which is quite a good league, respectively.

He has a high floor and high ceiling, and IMHO I feel he could step in very quickly and stabilize our 3C position for years to come.

I'm not gonna let my hopes up that we select 1st or 2nd and assume we draft 9th. I am also loving McTavish at this pick for the same reasons you give. There was a scouting report that he may be better suited to wing which I don't have a problem with although I'd still prefer him as third line center.

Yeah well spoken and looks like he kicks ass! No problem if we take him at 9

No to Mactavish there will be better players available.

That screams of a Hayton like off the board pick.

Yeah I agree. While it isn’t the same type of reach as Hayton because Mason McTavish is worthy of a pick around the area of our pick. However if Johnson or Eklund are there I wouldn’t like the McTavish pick. We could essentially be picking a Nazim Kadri type player over a Zetterberg or Marner type of skill guy.

Yeah I am but Zegras going 9th kinda stung, more refering to Hodgson and Boudron. 9th just seems like a way better number.

Zegras was my guy or the draft. I was so bummed when he went right ahead of us. That feeling immediately turned because I realized Pod was still on the board. I had him in the top 5 and didn't really notice he slipped. Went from devastation to immediate joy.

Think we need to take the best playmaker if we go with a forward.

We have a lot of forwards that can shoot and cycle the boards, we don’t have enough guys that can make plays though.

That's probably Eklund
