And there were serious rumours gaborik was looking for a house here. Until he or his agent comes out with an actual quote supporting this or he is actually traded then im filing this rumour in the trash can

All rumours are trash.  But it’s summer.  Now what can we get for this guy?  :towel:

for me that has to be 9th, Nate, Loui for Risto and Rhino, both with contract extensions, if we're giving up this years 1st.

I like Schmidt and hope he's not looking to leave. His contract was pretty good for what he did in Vegas, but a bit rich for what he provided this past year, so he might be a bit tough to trade too.

Van media was just reading Squamfan posts and want to stir the pot with these dumb rumors.

Dhaliwal is as credible as it gets. Sad that he wants out, he really has more to give.

We likely won't get good value for him, especially after the down year.

its a low bar.

Dhali hasn't actually confirmed anything either way.

DONT BLAME SCHMIDTTY FER WANTIN OUT! Lockdowns been hard he sees his family in the States everything is open no masks no distancing.

Missed the Vegas crowd and the vibe in the city.

Canada is dead right now.

U.S.A is different  planet altogether.

Van is a grey depressing city even more so with no crowds or gatherings.

GET OUT while you can franchise is only going downhil or spinning the wheels and wasting more time.....

As he should, general manager Jim Benning has denied all rumours about Schmidt wanting a trade, as it would greatly decrease his trade value if it became well known that Schmidt wants out.”

I found this quote from that article interesting.  Wouldn’t teams know this stuff about players?  Players and agents talk to one another.  I seriously doubt what Benning says publicly will effect Schmidt’s value.  Other teams already know the situation.  Interesting article, but it does have some subtle trolling.

Whether he wants to leave or is simply open to a change, I could see him being moved if the market heats up around him and they are willing to eat even a small portion of cap. There aren't a lot of options out there for team looking to add defense and NS @ 4 X ~5.25 could have appeal to a team that doesn't want to go the UFA route and feel he could bounce back. If, say, Boston, NYR, and Florida were interested that could heat the market up somewhat and set the table for a move.

Dhaliwal, just like other media figureheads in this city, have been making up news, disguised as legitimate rumours.

If Benning said that no one has asked for a trade, and yet this story 'confirms' a longstanding rumour that he wants out, who are we to believe? Benning who has never told a lie so far, or Dhaliwal, whose trackrecord has been sketchy?

Umm... I think it's an easy decision.

So how about that story about Hughes on IV? Our media's reporting on "rumours" has been whiffing badly and there's zero accountability for it.

That's totally unfair.

Dhaliwal is the most connected guy I've seen in Vancouver and reports what agents, management and players tell him.

He does his job fairly, obviously not everything comes to fruition.

Based on what? It's all ether.

One media hack postulating something, and the rest quoting that postulating, does not legitimize anything. Why do people continue to fall for this schtick?

When you start missing after missing after missing... Then at what point does accountability come into play?

When there's no news, journalists like him speculate based on stuff. And often that speculation gets confused as fact.

I remember Dhaliwal's rise when he was that insider who actually announced news before they were news. He is a far cry from that version now.

A journalist should have ethics, and a lot of journalists in this city have none, especially with the proven false "news" about Hughes on IV. Serekes supposedly reported it. It's not unfair to say that our media is no different than a tabloid magazine. Engineered stories sell papers and clicks.
