Kevin Biestra
It's tradition. The greats go to the Maple Leafs to die. Leetch, Barrasso, Lindros, Housley, Larry Murphy, Ron Francis...
IBatch
This is couldn’t really have worked out better for them and their cap issues. Beagle at 3 or JT at 700k? I sure know which one I’d rather have ... or Spezza for that matter. And I like Beagle.

I see what you’re saying but they fill completely different roles. I’ll take Beagle for the role we need him for.

Despite what leafs media will tell us, signing a bunch of good old Ontario boys is not the way to build a team. In other words, throwing $#!% against the wall and seeing if anything sticks. Excellent plan Leafs.

They have so many of these reclamation projects for dirt cheap. At least one of them will be a hit. Low risk versus high reward. Simmonds - 1.5M Thornton - 700K Spezza - 700K Bogosian - 1M Add Brodie, a good defenceman. I like the moves. They gave up Kapanen and Johnson to replace them with washed up scrubs. Brodie is a good pickup, but they got worse overall.
Slegr
I just can’t see it working well in the locker room. Big Joe will feel he needs to be a leader, while so do all the overpaid Buds. Who will be the followers? And who will actually get in the corners and go after the puck?

Goal:thecup
Shanaha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-hanaplan! Guy's a bonehead. Slashing Morrison's front teeth out well after the game had ended. Absolute idiocy on the Department of Player "Safety" position. Paying Babcock millions to abuse the players to rat out the rest of the team. Pays a first to get rid of Marlow and then gives Joe Spic-n-Span Beard, Sticks Fingers in Your Mouth, Can't Win The Big One Thornton a new contract after he's long washed up. And many more. I love that the Leafs love him though. Hopefully we get to play them lots in the new Canadian Division. Please put these geezers on the penalty kill; can't wait to see Petey and Quinn turning them inside out!

With all due respect to the team and the players, that roster reads like an All Star Game roster from the late 2000s or early-to-mid 2010s. I think all those guys can still contribute as complimentary players for the Leafs but it does seem strange to see the Leafs go in that direction. They still have lots of young talent so you could say that they're still a team to watch, or they'll at least be "interesting".

It looks like the Leafs teams that were trying to acquire picks at the deadline not a Leafs team that is trying to win a cup.

Playoff games played does not equal playoff performer. Craig Ludwig player in 177 playoff games. It doesn’t mean he plays well in those games. He’s at about a 60 point pace in the playoffs for a guy who’s supposed to be a captain and star player. Almost a ppg in the regular season. That’s a pretty steep drop off.He certainly chokes when needed the most.
