Pointless signing.

we have no bottom three forwards (Under contract) in the farm? After Six years of drafting you’d think we’d have guys that could fill this role.
But if it mean the foundational sutter leaves then fantastic.
if sutter stays then just another Of the many pointless Line up Plug signings.

cap for JV or gaudette doesn’t look great.

So basically don't improve our team is what you're saying... lol

This should tell you all what @combover does. He doesn't know crap.

This is a gem I found in the Pettersson thread.

Why is he still here again?

Yeah. I've seen his posts before. I kind of look at them as if he says one thing, expect the opposite. ;)

The day he comes with a positive post is the day the sky's probably actually falling.

I’m so sorry to show up late to the party but can someone tell me something about this player that hockeydb didn’t? I don’t know enough about the kid to get excited and don’t have good enough wifi to read through all ten pages. Cheers

Vancouver cannot walk away from a Virtanen contract.

They sure can. Would be embarrassing as hell, but it would be a sign of the times. There's not alot of money to go around. If there's a 2 or more at the front of that cap hit, I guarantee Vancouver walks. I would be shocked if they didn't, Heffy.

Yip. We are the only team in the league that has parts of the team that needs improving. Why bother signing or acquiring players that may fill those roles or grow into them. Yikes.

They have to honor the arbitration deal unless it's over 4 mil I believe.

But basically the are not allowed to walk away from Virtanen Legally

2nd round draft pick, 32 overall

improved every year he played in the WHL to the point of being a 100 point guy

improved every year he has played in the ahl to the point of being a point a game guy

has produced at the NHL level but has had limited games and limited minutes

there is some potential here

I like the signing

When was this rule implemented? I really don't think that's correct. That happened with Clarke MacArthur awhile back and his contract wasn't even this much.

"The arbitrator must make a decision within 48 hours of the hearing. When the decision is announced, the team has the right to decline or walk away from the award. If the team exercises this right, the player can declare himself an unrestricted free agent."

Stopped reading at "Pointless signing", then proceeded to shake my head, followed by a facepalm. :picard:

  • Player elected Arbitration Settlements of 1 year and greater than $4,538,958, Club can walk away from the awarded salary, making the player a UFA [CBA 12.10(a)]
  • Player elected Arbitration Settlements of 2 years and greater than $4,538,958, Club can walk away from the second (2nd) year of the awarded salary, making the player a UFA at the end of year 1 [CBA 12.10(b)]

What I was getting at is Virtanen won't make over the 4.5 mil threshold for the Canucks to be able to walk away from

The above statement was copy and pasted from capfriendly
