Popular Post Rush17
If training camp goes forward as planned. CBJ will have some new faces at camp this year. Namely Kirill Kaprizov and Dylan Cozens. Kaprizov was the leading scorer in the KHL last season and is expected to have a huge impact on CBJ's team. Cozens will be making his NHL debut this winter after leading Team Canada in points in the 2019 WJC's and making his second WJC appearance in the coming weeks. Also joining the team for their first training camp will be newly acquired and defenseman Nicolas Hague who look to make their CBJ debuts this January. 2020 draft prospect Shakir Mukhamadullin and Ivan Morozov (teammate / linemate of Podkolzin) will need to wait another year before having a potential opportunity to join the big club here in Blue Jackets territory. Mackenzie Blackwood had a strong rookie campaign but is expected to run as the teams backup both in CBJ (& NJ his NHL club). Michael DiPietro will start his 2nd AHL campaign as he hopes to ramp up his professional career into the NHL. The team also acquired some more seasoned AHL help in free agency: with Jeremy Bracco, Christian Wolanin, Kevin Gravel, and Oscar Dansk. The team has acquired the rights of Vladislav Kamenev but he is currently playing out his season in the KHL. We will see a lot of new faces at CBJ's camp this year. The teams management is excited but the team still have a few holes at its NHL level. It is unclear if any of the AHL depth added will make the club. The team is currently in talks with two of its former UFA's as they try to secure more NHL depth! We look forward to the 2020 season and cannot wait for the WJC's to kick off! Shakira Mukhamadullin (RUS), Kaiden Guhle (CAN) and Dylan Cozens (CAN) are expected to represent their international clubs at the 2020 WJC's. We look forward to the arrival of the 2021 NHL campaign! We wish you all well during the holidays. We look forward to lacing them up against you all very soon. Rush17 CBJ GM 2

Gator
COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS PRESS CONFERENCE REPORTER You made a big move before the draft by giving the 3rd OA pick, and promising young forward Jake Virtanen to Toronto in exchange for Chabot, Bailey, and Reaves. How much of a factor did the early playoff exit have on this decision? @Rush17• We realized to beat the best in the league we had to be willing to make bold moves. We were looking at our options at third overall and were not overly optimistic we would have gotten Stutzle who we had ranked 2nd overall at 3. We had Raymond at 3 but we knew the concensus had Byfield a top 3 talent. We managed to add a very talented young defender who we feel can be a legit #1 defender in the future. Losing to Mike was a wake up call although it wasn't an easy decision we offer we received from Toronto was to good to turn down. • we basically didn't want to lose the value of a preceived top 3 pick some ppl had ranked 2nd oa• we would have taken byfield at 3 if we didn't recieve the offer we did even tho we had considered taking Raymond, Askrov, or even Drysdale at 3.we lost by 5 pts to Mike when his top players had a really bad playoffs. we knew we had to take bold action to give us the best odds at success. unfortunately free agency hasn't gone our way this year but we remain hopeful we can reach the playoffs and see what the guys can do there.REPORTERWith no picks in this upcoming draft its no secret you plan to contend this year. Where do you see your club as it stands compared to the best teams in the league? @Rush17• Currently, as we are currently constructed. I personally feel we will have a difficult time making the playoff bar if we see divisional re-allignments. From the proposed divisional splits I have seen online our division would be quite challenging to compete in. We did well in the playoffs based off of the volume of players we had on quality playoff teams.. I'm not so sure we will be as strong as we were last season. We will need a big push from our youth if we wish to be compete in the 2021 season. New roster additions of Kirill Kaprizov and Dylan Cozens could be the differences we need to earn a playoff spot. We will be exploring our options to recoup some picks but making ourselves a viable competitor is our first priority. REPORTERFans seemed to be very happy about your 1st round selection of Kaiden Guhle. Was he your target? And how do you see him fitting with the club long term? @Rush17• I am happy the fans share that excitement. Kaiden is a world class player with excellent leadership and physical gifts. We were estatic to select Guhle 15th OA. We had our eye on a few other targets but Guhle was our primary target heading into the draft for that position. We see Kaiden Guhle as a future top 4 defender in the national hockey league. We have a pretty deep d core now but with the expansion draft looming we are hopeful he can step in and contribute for us in the 2021-22 season in a year's time.• We like the program he is with in Montreal and are optomistic he will get plenty of ice time and playoff opportunity there in the interim. REPORTERWill you be looking to explore anymore trades before the season starts? And do you have any UFAs you are hoping to acquire? @Rush17• Yes, we are actively in trade talks in half a dozen teams. We are waiting to see if we can fill out our roster in free agency before spending draft capital to fill holes. The goal would be to use our 2021 picks to add playoff additions. We are actively in talks with two of our former players and remain hopeful they will want to return for another strong play run. We have a deep team but we need that seasoned experience in our bottom six. We hope to find that in the coming weeks.REPORTERAnd before we let you go Rush17. Im sure you are aware of the recent internet challenge that has young teens putting their mouth around the entire spout when they drink from water fountains. This was started because earlier this month, a friend of yours posted a video of you doing it, and it went viral. Care to explain why you are doing this during a pandemic, and what is your message to all the teens doing this challenge? @Rush17 Edited December 7, 2020 by Crabby 1
Popular Post Rush17
TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS PRESS CONFERENCE REPORTER In this your first off-season as a GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs.. How have you felt the start of your GM campaign has gone in Toronto? Are you satisfied with your moves so far? @Crabby We are very satisfied with the moves so far. We were able to acquire pick #3 to pair with the 1st overall pick. Those picks turned out to be Alexis Lafreniere, and Quinton Byfield who will be huge core pieces for us moving forward. When we took this team over I liked the roster as a whole, but it didn't scream "winner" to me. Having the 1st overall pick was a sign to me to tear this down and build for the future. We have dealt a lot of the vets we had last year and also lost a young stud in Thomas Chabot, but we feel it will put us in a very good spot in the near future. We feel we have already completed our youth movement at both forward and goalie positions, and now need to focus on acquiring D prospects. With 2021 being loaded with defensive talent we feel we will have that taken care of soon as well. Also, bringing in Sidney Crosby to help get our young players get adjusted is icing on the cake in my eyes. So proud to have him here to guide these young kids! REPORTER In your short time as GM you have made some pretty impressive additions as you mentioned in your last response. With the likes of future hall of famer Sidney Crosby and two top end prospects in Alexis Lafreniere, and Quinton Byfield.. How will you next dazzle the fans of leafs nation? That has been quite the opening statement. @Crabby We don't see anymore BIG MOVES happening anytime soon. We are currently trying to shop some vets to help us acquire picks/prospects and to get them a chance at a cup. Even with Crosby we know its a long shot to make the playoffs this season after such a youth movement. So we feel it is best for the club and some current vets to go in a different direction. We may be in for a bad year, but atleast its a shortened season, so it has the potential to be 1 of the quickest rebuilds ever. Im sure the fans understand. Like half the fan base hasn't even seen this city win the cup before, so i'm sure they can handle a half a season rebuild REPORTER Now that you have established yourself as the GM Of The Leafs. What are your goals for this upcoming season and when do you feel your team will be ready to compete? Based on your last response, do you believe you can be a competitive team in just one seasons time? @Crabby We believe we have a chance at the playoffs as soon as this year if everything comes together, but we just don't want to infuse any kind of false hope to our fans. With a big youth movement there will be a lot of "If's". I really do believe we could have a really good shot at playoffs in the 2021-22, and could see us being in serious contention as soon as 2022-23. IMO we are 2-3 Dmen and some development time away. We already feel we have a big chunk of our future core heading forward REPORTER In your acquisition of the 3rd overall pick, you also picked up a young power forward by the name of Jake Virtanen. What was it that drew you to him and what role do you envision him fulfilling in your club now and in the future? @Crabby I loved that kid since he was drafted by the Canucks. Im aware of his struggles, but I think people are absolutely insane to label him a bust. He has so much talent and we feel he in on the verge of a break out. If it doesn't happen in the next season or 2 I would be very surprised. Just needs to build up his confidence and believe in his talent! REPORTER And before we let you go @Crabby, I have heard your name in the running for the vacant assistant GM candidacy for team Canada in 2022. Do you have any comments rumours? Or are they mere speculation? @Crabby 1 3
Gator
COLORADO AVALANCHE PRESS CONFERENCE REPORTER You recently made a very big move acquiring Kyle Connor. How excited are you to have him, and was it hard to give up so much to acquire him? @aGENT • Oh we certainly wrestled with the cost. There was a LOT of heated discussion at the table. • But at the end of the day, while we may have 'lost' the value portion of the trade, we massively improved our team. • We couldn't be more excited to bring such a young, talented player onboard with the rest of our young core. • Hoping he and they are all here for many years. • The amateur scouts HATED it though lol • I informed them they've done such a good job, we still have plenty of prospect depth. REPORTER How disappointing was it to lose the play in round last year? And do you think you can compete for the Stanley Cup this year? @aGENT • We were floored. HIGHLY disappointing. Definitely shaped some of the moves we made this offseason. I'm not messing around! • That performance simply wasn't good enough. So we made changes. • And yes I think we're getting to a point where we should be in the cup mix, but that doesn't mean we don't have a few more things were looking at to push even more. REPORTER Are you planning on making anymore moves before the season begins? And do you have any dicussions going on with any free agents? @aGENT We've got a few irons in the fire for both. If we can improve, we will. If we can't, we're pretty comfortable that we've made some solid moves to compete. REPORTER In your time as GM of the Avalanche you have proven to be quite the competitor in trade talks. Do you have a trade of the past that you often think back on? Maybe a trade that has helped shape the foundation of your current team? @aGENT • We try to make fair trades that work for both teams. Tough to nail down one... You could argue this Connor trade could do it. Time will tell. • Barzal was a great add as was Parayko, McAvoy... Trading Hughes for Provorov, Saad etc was tough but Saad led to Huberdeau as well. It might be that one. They're all about incrementally getting better at any opportunity though. REPORTER Im sure you are aware of the amazing season Quinn Hughes has had this season. Provorov is a fine young defenceman himself, but are you regretting that move at all? If you could take it back, would you? @aGENT It's hard moving a player like Quinn. He's one of a kind. But Provorov is one hell of a defenseman in his own right. They're both young, top 20 D in this league. And with the other pieces we also ended up with Huberdeau. Would I trade Huberdeau and Provorov for Hughes? No. REPORTER What set of items could you buy that would make the cashier the most uncomfortable? @aGENT Mayonnaise, a cucumber and chop sticks REPORTER 1
Azzy
Word to the wise for GMs around the league: if you ever want me to consider trading Quinn Hughes, your package had better be significantly better than Huberdeau + Provorov.

Popular Post Gator
TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING PRESS CONFERENCE REPORTER As new GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning you find yourself with the best player in many people's opinion Connor McDavid. Along with him you also have guys like Malkin and Josi. What would you like to say to the fans about your vision for the team moving forward? And are you expecting to compete for the Stanley Cup this season? @luckylager • Conny's a special player, he has the potential to really prove himself as a generational talent in this league and I'm very fortunate to be able to build around him and a legit #1Dman in Josi. • I'd have to say my message to the fans will be "patience". I've just taken the reigns here and already I've been knocking on doors, talking with my scouts, you know..my due diligence on the UFA market. I've asked on a few guys but the agents are busy this time of year and it's not like I can hold a zoom meeting with all of them.. so I have to be patient. Just like the fans. I've got a few guys in mind and a few after them if the first guys don't work. Normal GM stuff. • I think this team needs a top six winger, a top 4 dman and better depth to be a contender, but I have faith that a lot my guys can step up and really put us in a position to compete and be a dark horse team. If the UFA market works in our favour we might be a threat, but at this point I'd say we need some pieces to be considered a true contender. REPORTER Right now depth seems to be the #1 concern for you guys. How do you plan to utilize your minors cap to improve the depth on this team? UFA, trades, or both? @luckylager • Our depth is a major concern right now but considering some of the high end talent we do have I've been working to compliment those players first and build our depth from the top down. As I said I've been working to touch base with some agents and knock on some door but I just got the team a couple days ago and don't have a relationship with most of the agents, so we're working towards making those contacts and building clear lines of communication so we can better understand where we're at. The trade market isn't something I'm really keen to engage in at this point. I've talked to a few gms and we have framework in place for some stuff, but I really want a better picture of how this team plays together before I start moving guys around. We lost a big leadership piece with Justin's retirement, but we have lots of great leaders in the room with guys like Malkin, Krejci, Jones, Rust, Danault and Cole to help Buch, Slavin and Heinola really forge their way in the league. REPORTER Do you believe you can turn this team into a CDCGML Champion within the next 5 years? @luckylager • I have no idea. I think we've got some really talented players to build around if the current core is unable to really make noise and commit to the new regime here in TB. Guys can buy in and take this team to the next level, or I'll tear it down to a few key players and go from there. • I have faith the current core, complimented by a few key acquisitions, can make us a fierce competitor, but we really need to see this team on the ice before committing to a vision. The team is at a crossroads and the first half of the season will be very telling s to the direction I need to take. REPORTER How have you enjoyed your first few days in the best fantasy league on CDC? @luckylager It's been fun. Other GMs keep contacting me try to gobble up some of my gems, but at least they're trying to buy me dinner first. REPORTER Where was the most inappropriate/most embarrassing place you’ve farted? @luckylager Definitely Christmas mass with my Grandma. It was savage!
