Maple Leafs are in the market for a couple of young NHL forwards for late picks. Not looking for any grade A propspects. Just youngish bottom 6 forwards that may be available for a 4th. Prefer to take on a free player if there is anyone in need to shed some cap before the TDL, but willing to sacrifice a late pick or 2 to get them if needed

TRADE: The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

What a day for our organization and the fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets. We have taken a few steps back moving out both Colton and Pageau. We however remain confident in the core of our team and are thrilled to welcome so many new, young, and talented players to the organization.  Acquiring the young players like Barrett and Fillip  is really an extension of our off-season plans to acquire more youth and build up our pipeline and system. We tried the Mike Vanderhoek model of selling of all of our assets to compete. We actually did pretty good but with new clubs rising in GML with superior young depth we knew we had to change our approach to remain relativant. After all I am not Mike Vanderhoek - I don't know how he does it lol.

Since the trade deadline we have continued our goal of adding a good volume of young players and quality prospects. Since the off-season we have added: Philip Hallander, Ivan Morozov, Barrett Hayton, Lucas Raymond, Ryan Johnson, Mario Ferraro, Mikey Anderson, Kaiden Guhle, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Angus Crookshank, and Ilya Konovalov.  This is the type of volume we feel you need to win a championship in GML. We obviously moved a lot of key parts out to acquire and draft these players. We however are very happy with the progression of our young prospect pool and can't wait to see some of these guys in the Columbus colours in the coming years.

Andrew Mangiapaine is a personal favorite of mine in the flames system. He is so freaking exciting to watch it is just a pleasure to have him join us for the remainder of the season. We really would like to sign him to a mid range extension but we will have to see what the off-season brings. We will let him play out the year before engaging him in contract talks. Let's see what he can do down the stretch with our guys!

BonbyMac was correct! Wohooo!

EXTENSION: The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to a six year contract extension.

I am a huge Mackenzie Blackwood fan and we made that clear this season when we shipped out Vegas' starter at the time in Robin Lehner. Mackenzie has been and will remain our guy for the foreseeable future. We understand there may be some growing pains and his IRL club may take a few years before they are legitimate contenders. We really do believe in the kid though and are going to wait for him to have opportunity to help us push for a cup!

Prior to Mackenzie contracting covid a few weeks into the season he had been sporting a 0.960 SV%.  Just an incredible pace - yeah you could argue he was on a heater to start the year but we have been tracking his progress for the last 2 years. That type of production was not a surprise to us at all but rather an affirmation of his potential. Unfortunately since his case with covid he has had some up and down numbers due to the side effects of that. He is currently rocking a 0.900 SV% but we are fully confident he will rebound after the off-season and come back strong for the 2021-22 season!

We appreciate Mackenzie and his agent for the talks. We had originally planned to sign Mackenzie to a 2 year extension but as the talks developed it made a lot more sense for both parties that we expand the deal to more term. We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome and can't wait to see him back and fully healthy!

Lines are subject to change. Have a few trade talks going. Dubois' ice time has dropped from 17 minutes a night down to 15 since moving to the jets. Time to move him down a line and give Lindholm the center spot for now. Cozens also only with 13 minutes a night on average.

Thank you to @Devron44 for the negotiation. Best of luck with your future assets.

The Washington Capitals are proud to introduce Mark Scheifele as well as Travis Dermott and Steven Lorentz to the organization.

Bringing Mark Scheifele in during the prime of his career brings so many elements to the Caps.

Not only do we believe this trade makes us stronger this season, we also think we added a key element to our team for a few years after.

Combining Scheifele with Kuznetsov, Kadri and Wennberg gives us plent of depth at the centre position. We believe we are stronger at the position than we have been during our franchises history.

We wish the best for the two players going the other way. Victor Olofsson is a home developed piece and we wish him the best of luck in his career as he comes to a big RFA deal. We think St. Louis got a gem here.

Capitals lineup heading into the Trade Deadline:

Kuznetsov  - Scheifele  -  Laine

Killorn  -  Kadri  -  Nylander

Copp  -  Wennberg  -  Comeau

Yandle  -  Grzelcyk

Dermott  -  Gudas

Smith

Koskinen

Matt Murray (injured reserve)

Carter Verhaeghe  (week-to-week)

Matt Calvert  (injured reserve)

Report: With Carey Price being in concussion protocol his season (and possibly his career) is possibly over making Jake Allen the #1 goalie in Montreal

Is this not dramatized just a little bit to help u sell your player?   IMO statements like this ^^ are not that cool...
