We expect he will meet the conditions handily and be a great asset for Toronto, going forward. Thanks Crabby for a great discussion and a good deal. Popular Post Sergei Bobrovsky
In what was arguably the busiest regular season for GM SB, the Nashville Predators and its fan base can now finally settle down for the remainder of this season and for the hopeful playoffs. The new faces that can now represent the gold and blue brand of the GML for its 2021 season are: Josh Morrissey, Nikolaj Ehlers, Andy Greene, Michael Raffl, Nicolas Deslauriers and Grigori Denisenko. A team who may be viewed by some as not worthy of last year's championship due to the unexpected turn in last year's regular season, faced even greater disbelief that they were going to come out as a top 4 team in the deep realigned Central division of the condensed 2021 GML season. Things got even worse for the Preds after Kucherov and Dach's successful surgeries put them on the shelf for an expected time frame of the entire regular season. Two games into the regular reason, top 6 winger Ondrej Kase went down with what was believed to be another upper body injury for primarily the entirety of the regular season. With a top 10 player and two key forwards out of the lineup for the Nashville Predators, the same and or new group of people in the hockey world may had viewed this as writing on the wall for the club. Quote You know nobody really chalks up a workaround plan when a top 10 player in the league like Kucherov goes out with a long term injury. Their absence is quantified when every game matters in a condensed season where there are 5 top 12 teams in our division. What is somebody to do, you know? So if you are lucky enough to have more than one top 10 player, they can fill in for the one that is injured, but who is going to fill in now for that second player? You can't just trade for another one or at least it isn't a simple task to achieve at a snap of a finger. -SB GM SB in the press conference admittedly shared the plans of the club last offseason to add more depth onto the roster. Quote Unbeknownst to most, the year we won the organization's first ever GML championship was actually on the final year of a three year re-tool plan my team and I made. This plan was conceived and implemented to get us into the very position that we find ourselves in right now, to prepare us for multiple runs at the championship. You know when set backs happen, we cannot allow that to distract us from the grand goal. It is very important to keep steadfast to our goals. Fortunately for us, our roster's depth naturally received a spotlight in last year's playoffs, even after our small additions to last year's trade deadline. We focused on filling out our depth last offseason through trades, free agent signings and with our internal system that we were able to build from our three year re-tool plan. We added top 6 forward Vrana through trade, signed back up goalie Rinne and depth forward Nieto via free agency, focused on the development of the young players we were able to get through our three year re-tool plan in Mason Appleton, Kirby Dach, Anthony Duclair and Neal Pionk, we also focused on graduating players from the pool we made from this plan in Niko Mikkola, Calen Addison and who was recently acquired at the time, Josh Norris. Heading into the start of this season even after our injuries, we felt we were able to not only acknowledge but also resolve our glaring depth issues we found last playoffs. -SB The club wasn't done. A big reason for the nonbelief in the team was due to lack of skilled defensemen the club had iced last year on a consistent basis. Fans rejoiced over the trade that landed Nate Schmidt in Smashville however, was shortly traded to a division rival for a top 6 forward, recreating the hole the club filled momentarily in their top 4. Season ticket holders knew that GM SB would be a buyer this season after the team's three year re-tool plan had concluded. As days and the weeks gone by after the start of the season, season ticket holders who received the team's year in review paperwork, started to doubt the words and promises GM SB made in his statements of being an active buyer this season. Depth had been resolved, but promises sent in mail to the season ticket holders were not being fulfilled. Watching their team often being on the outside looking in of a playoff position during the start and halfway point of a condensed season, things were looking bleak. Quote We definitely felt the extra pressure when fans pressed the team when it was not in a playoff position and also not buying when they were told they would be. We had our eyes set on our plan and stayed with it regardless of who pressed us and what was happening in the world. We are paid professionals and have only been hired to make this business successful. Everyday we are planning, developing, and just simply working for results so of course when the results aren't there you know, we know that. Working by this standard, when the opportunity was found, we followed this standard to realize it. We added Josh Morrissey who you know is able to eat up a lot of minutes to help alleviate the load from Pionk and especially young defenseman Sergachev. Another addition to the blue line was Andy Greene who is somebody we had an eye on for a while. You know losing the leadership and veteran presence who is able to play the PK in Dion Phaneuf is something we envision Sergachev being able to take the mantle of this role someday. It's still a tough ask for any young defenseman in the league to do. Andy Greene will be additional help for this role and teach Sergachev the right path to get to this point. Nikolaj Ehlers has dynamic offensive abilities that is something that we look for in our top 6. He will put us over to be in competition with the rest of the league's elite top 6 forward groups. Playing on the wing of Point will finally give Point a consistent bonafide top 6 winger. The additions of both Michael Raffl and Nicolas Deslauriers are depth forwards that fit our team mold and after the examination of our peers, knew would give us an edge over their depth forwards. -SB With the additions of adding Josh Morrissey and Nikolaj Ehlers to the core group of the Predators, trade deadline trade rumours surfaced around in Nashville media about the availability of both Erik Brannstrom and Juuse Saros, who specifically with Brannstrom was believed to be a part of this core, GM SB had this to say with regards to that: Quote You know to be completely transparent with you guys, we completely failed Erik Brannstrom. Here is a guy who we drafted before our three year re-tool plan, a player we knew would fit the new age hockey that everybody is now aware about and enjoying as it continues to rejuvenate the game of hockey and thus the entertainment aspect of the game. It isn't that we didn't want Brannstrom to be a part of our long term plans. He was a part of that plan however as the team progressed forward in the now, Brannstrom did progress as well, but at a slower rate, leaving the team and Brannstorm in two different places in the development path of this organization. In what most projected Brannstrom to be a consistent full time active GML player, helping us push for the playoffs, half time was found as our 7th or 8th defenseman. We take full responsibility in this by not only stating it, but as proven by keeping our promise with our season ticket holders, by also taking action. Behind the scenes, we cut half of the personnel in our scouting and development team. We identified the source of our shortcoming and now have all of our young defensemen in our system who are 21 years of age or younger this season, scoring at near or over a .5 point per game pace in their respective professional leagues. We knew in due time Brannstrom would be a top 4 defenseman for us, so we didn't want to trade him, but the timeframe did not align with the team's timeframe who are looking to contend for the playoffs. Today, every GM and their Mothers and dogs salivated in trying to land Brannstrom a young, small, puck moving defenseman. We had fluid ideas in mind when finding Brannstrom a good suitor who's development timeline matched his. Ultimately, Denisenko is a player who fits our new outlook we are now looking for in a young player. We know his abilities has what it takes to make him an elite forward in this new age of hockey. He is also more GML ready to help us achieve the GML cup. Trading Brannstrom to Edmonton who is in a re-tool/rebuilding state, will be a good place for him to develop at his own pace that fits the timeline of Edmonton. Saros on the other hand was able to prove to us and our fans that his development timeline indeed matched the timeline of our organization. Saros was able to internally defy his personal adversity which in turn lead the team to defy the adversity that was pegged on the club from the get go of this season. Like Brannstrom, we never wanted to trade Saros. And like our club's standard to achieving results, Saros provided that. -SB When further asked about what the plans are for hiring a new and complete scouting and development team, GM SB refused to expand on his answer and ended the press conference with his closing remarks. Quote That is not of my concern right now. As cliche as it sounds, we need to stay the course of trusting the process. The process in our plan. This is my focus at the moment. This is our highest regular season ranking that we have ever achieved throughout my time here. We have been in the playoff race for the entire season in a very deep division where on some nights, teams in our division in the playoff hunt were all top 12 or 13 teams. As per the media's recent standings article, we currently now sit in second place in our division. Being matched up day in and day out against the likes of our league's superstars like McDavid, Matthews, Rantanen, Stamkos and rookie sensation Kaprizov, there is no time for distractions in keeping our eyes and focus away from the plan. Things like activating our top 10 player from injured reserve and hiring a full scouting and development team will eventually come. -SB 3

Primal Optimist
On 3/28/2021 at 1:23 PM, Primal Optimist said: MSG NEWS Rangers 3 stars edition You heard it here first on MSG NEWS, your home at Madison Square Garden: the New York Rangers management has considered re-instating the 3 stars of the Month, due in large part to there being some good work being done on the ice by our players, pushing more than the usual top 3 for any kind of recognition. The 3 stars for March 2021 will be announced on April 1st, but among the exciting finalists are; Ryan O'Reilly with 73 points already this month. Brady Tkachuk with 32 Justin Faulk chipping in 31 from the blueline Ilya Samsonov posting 70 points in his first full month as a Ranger! Jujhar Khaira putting up 25 Marco Scandella 28 from the back end Victor Rask 32 points Adam Gaudette, another recent addition putting up 32 as well Adam Erne with 34 Shayne Gostisbehere arrived near the end of February and has quietly put up 51 points Nick Cousins newly arrived on March 1st and is putting up 37 points to keep things interesting Chris Tanev sliding over our 20 points cut off with 24 points Kyle Okposo with 23 and COdy eakin right at the cutoff of 20 points in the month of march. With 14 players chipping in at least 20 points on the month and 3 more knocking on the door, we seem to have finally reached a point where most of the team is rowing in the same direction, and with a firm hand on the tiller we should sail up the standings! For that effort, the Club will certainly re-instate the 3 stars of the Month to recognize the clubs best contributors going forward. MSG NEWS APril 1st edition should be a hot issue. MSG NEWS Rangers 3 stars edition A bit late to announce, but we have recorded team Captain Ryan O'Reilly as our first star of the month of March. Ilya Samsonov as the 2nd star in his first month as a Ranger and Shayne Gostisbehere as Third Star of the month of March. This is our first month of star announcements in some time, years. It signals we are now ready to come up in the standings and fight for some much needed playoff time. The month of April is growing shorter now and we can postulate those in the running for THREE STARS OF APRIL: Nick Cousins, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Michael Rasmussen each with 38 points this month put them on nice footing to end on a high note and crack the three stars, potentially. WHich one will bring his A game to the late April opportunity? O'Reilly with 60 points in April, Tkachuk with 56, Samonov at 60, Adam Erne with 54 and Casey Mittelstadt leads the charge with 62. These are the front runners who will be in serious contention for the three STARS of April, we will announce shortly after the 1st this time. League leading Arizona has 5 guys as well with over 50 points in April so it is nice to see we are keeping pace, roughly. In April as a club we are 15th for overall points in the league and this past week we are also 15th. Dead center in the league. ; ) in our division however...( Sabres, Isles, Devils, Philly, Caps, Boston, Rags and Pittsburgh), we are in tough. Sabres and Islanders are 1 and 2 for points in April league wide. Devils and Flyers are 5th and 6th respectively league wide for april. Capitals are 8th leaguewide NEW YORK RANGERS 15th! Boston 24th and Pittsburgh Penguins round out the april points at 26th overall. My takeaway is that we are currently 6th in the division, for points earned in April, but we are still playing for another 6 days, anything could happen! We will see which of our superstars is more interested in Star of the Month of April. 1
