Phase One will take place directly after the regular season has ended. The 14 teams that miss the playoffs will be eligible to enter the draft lottery. Teams eligible for the draft lottery will be entered into a randomized number generator with equal odds, giving each team a number from 1 to 14. Phase Two will take place directly alongside the NHL draft lottery. The number that teams received in Stage One will link them to NHL teams in the NHL Draft Lottery. (eg. - The team who received number 1 in Stage One will be linked to the NHL team with the highest odds to win the draft lottery, number 2 linked to the team with the 2nd highest odds, and so on.) The team that wins the draft lottery will have the right to select 1st overall. If a team has traded their draft pick, the team that holds the draft pick will be entered into the draft lottery in the corresponding position as the original team. Draft lottery results impact the draft order for the first round only. All subsequent rounds will be determined solely by the CDCGML Regular Season Standings. With our regular season standings now complete and in accordance with our CBA and the vote taken by the GMs earlier this season, we will be proceeding with Phase One of our draft lottery setup in the next few days when time and scheduling permits. I don't have an exact date and time just yet, but as soon as I know I will post and let everyone know. It looks like I'll be heading to work around noon today so we can do Phase One either tomorrow night if I'm home in time, or if not then, Tuesday evening. We will be holding the Phase One number generator over Discord via live stream, so everyone will be able to watch in real time and see the results. This will ensure transparency not to mention add a bit of fun. EDIT: Looking more likely that Phase One will be Thursday evening around 7pm Pacific. We added Kevin Hayes, Brett Howden, Sydney Crosby, Adam Larsson, Erik Johnson, Alex Radulov and brought back our (injured) assistant captain Oskar Klefbom. Assimilated starting goalie Igor Shesterkin. Very proud we tried to raise our stock, further adding Patrck Kane last year. Even if it did not work out! Too many injuries; just 15 games played for Erik Johnson & Alex Radulov. Slow starts for Shesterkin and Rasmus Dahlin all contrinuting to us being about 200 points behind the play off pay grade? Next year we hope brining back Johnson, Radulov & Klefbom will make us a play off team? With rookies Ville Heinola & Erik Bransstrom potentially dangerous add ins. Likely to be boosted, at least part time by a host of other rookies and young players; Nolan Foote, Ukka Pekka Luukkonen, Tyler Benson, Henrik Bjorgstrom & maybe Jack Duggan? The above results are not the draft order, it's the order that we will use to tie non-playoff teams to the NHL teams. Then when the NHL does their draft lottery, the two teams who are tied to the NHL teams who win will move to the 1st and 2nd overall picks in the entry draft. Everyone else who doesn't win the lottery will revert back to their draft position as determined by the GML regular season standings.
