Vancouver Canucks Jersey History Tournament (Round #1)

I created a logo tournament near the start of the year, but now I introduce the jersey tournament! If you don't know what this is, it's a tournament-style competition to see which jerseys CDC likes the best. All jerseys are put up against another, and you vote on which jersey you like better. This is NOT which jersey you necessarily think they should be actively using, this is just voting for your personal favorite. I will do my best to give fair matchups. I plan on leaving the voting up for a couple days for each round to give everyone a chance to vote. Let the games begin!

Honorable mentions to these two fantastic remakes. Unfortunately they are almost identical to jerseys already in the tournament so they weren't included.

i cannot believe people actually voted for the modern stick in rink in matchup#8

 

EDIT: this is perfect though   i kinda miss how baggy the jerseys used to be

I started there, changed my mind and submitted but have changed to my original thought.  Yep, you're right.

just make a blue version of the 40th anniversary jersey and you have a top 3 jersey sit in the league. Make the skate the third. Still don't know why they use that crappy orca

Johnny Canuck is a trash logo, it belongs in the ECHL

The toughest one for me was the 80's skate jersey. Went with yellow, but that could be because the 90's black skate looks much sharper than it's predecessor.

 

The current home jersey feels empty compared to the away version, despite me wanting the wordmark removed.

 

Fun thread @Roberts. How do you intend on doing next round though? 10 matchups means 5 winners eventually.

I'll figure something out, maybe the most-voted jersey gets to skip to round 3, we'll see. if you have any suggestions let me know. Or maybe the highest-voted loser gets to move on to round 2 as well

For number 4....I’d be curious to know how many voters around who watched the teams back then as an adult would rank the black uniforms higher.   They were still kick ass, but the home was white back then and it was easier to tell who was who from a distance in them and to read the numbers on the back.   That’s why I went with the whites ...I also wonder how well each of them would do against the Orca’s ... 

 

In the end there can only be one ha ha.   Good job op and I’m surprised this hasn’t crashed and burned into a “I hate Messier/Orca Entertainment” thread yet but give it time.   There’s always a tiger in the bush somewhere.
