Expecting a set back season. Better draft pick coming and then as the payroll drops off players like Sven and Sutter, a resurgence the following year.

Expect to be surprised ;)

We've got two 21 year old phenoms in the most sought after positions... Center and D-man ... they are both making only 1 million to the cap.

Holtby came here to win.

Can't wait to see him do this in a Canucks uni! What a stud! :P

I hope to be surprised, but a lot has to go right for them to have a good/great year.

Holtby has to be a solid back up, at the very least.

Myers will need a bit better of a year

Edler can't decline

Schmidt has to fit in and play well in his first year here

the 5 and 6 d-men will need to play about 10 minutes of solid hockey per night

No sophomore slump from Quinn

Someone has to step up and replace Toffoli.

lots of question marks.

can't wait for the new season to begin.

Yes, because losing Tanev & Stetcher and adding Schmidt & Juolevi/Rafferty is such a MASSIVE downgrade... where do people get this sh** from? And in a sense we didn't really lose Toffoli, as he was only brought in because Boeser was expected to be out for the remainder of the regular season, and even when the play-ins came around, he messed up his ankle and if he wasn't playing, he was barely effective. Boo hoo. And sure, we won't have the best goalie in Markstrom, but the tradeoff is that we have two goalies who are equally capable of carrying a shared workload, and that couldn't be said about Demko at the start of last season.

Watch out for Montreal, Bergevin is very polarizing and takes a lot of flack, but I think he's done a terrific job there. I'd almost put them ahead of Vancouver but I don't think they're quite there.

Calgary is overrated. Sure they were the flashy team this offseason and added two of this fanbase's favourite players, but even with the Tanev addition, they've regressed on defence. With their patch-up core they already had, an aging Giordano (and sorry, but Tanev too) and their desperate moves this offseason, in the words of Jim Lahey, they're sliding even further down the sh**rope. I think Marky will be good though.

Someone has to be at the top and I think it'll be the Leafs. They have a damn good core and have had a pretty understated offseason.

Edmonton will get dragged to more than a handful of wins by McDavid and Draisaitl, and I still think that the Jets are a very solid team in their own right. I hope that Scheifele's back to full health. It was sad to see them go down the way they did in the playoffs. I thought they'd be a final four team.

Ottawa has a bright future but they're still God awful.

I hope everyone's ready to fully embrace this as much as I am. A CANADIAN division?! That's nuts!! Super stoked.

I think they could relocate all of the Canadian NHL teams in America, have them play in the same time zone, and in NHL sized arenas, and can hold up to 17,000 fans with favourable COVID laws in place:  Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans and Madison.

Good luck getting the NHLPA to agree to endangering the players' lives like that.

Remember when it felt like the Canucks almost became a contender there for a few minutes? Now it feels like the Canucks have taken a big step back by losing key players and not fixing that bottom 6. The bottom pairing D could be scary as well.

This may be the most realistic.

Does anyone remember the rivalries with Toronto, Montreal or Winnipeg?

With the number of one year contracts on these teams there will no lack of motivation.

Vancouver's lack of depth will hurt all out of proportion to the number of injuries.

A condensed schedule, multiple games in a row vs each team and renewed rivalries.

The players could just go through the motions to get the season over without injuries but this is where all 1 year deals have an effect.

Vancouver needs all it's players not to get injured, even in the bottom six forwards or bottom 3 defence until the KHL is over.

Toronto got much bigger and are very hungry

Montreal just got, well everything, bigger, more scoring, meaner and surprise even better in goal and they still have cap space and depth

Edmonton is another team chomping at the bit, weak on defence and suspect in goal but enough fire power to overcome or take advantage of weak defenses

Ottawa is young, enthusiatic better in goal and don't know they are not supposed to win yet, only 6 wins behind the Canucks and now in an easier divsion.

Winnipeg is hard to figure, they had ups and downs last year, their depth may be a little suspect but they have the best goalie in the world and now when teams visit there they will be there for awhile.

Calgary had not bad goaltending last year, but they had moments of brain freeze, Tanev will make a bigger contribution than some think and they are being pushed, if they had to they have to blue chip trade assets they could move in a heart beat. I think they change their style to a more defence oriented system. I am surprised they didn't get Newell Brown somehow

Being tossed around right now is a 60 game schedule starting on January 1rst. 15 games a month.

With all the Canadian teams playing each other, that is like 10 games vs each team, that ought to stoke up rivalries and games will get heated.

With a schedule that condensed I wonder if the NHL will allow for more players on rosters or if teams can find northern homes for their affiliates.

I think Calgary is going to be trouble.  Tanev and Marky are great adds for them.  I don't think the contracts will age well, so I'm glad we didn't sign them but next year both those players could be huge for the Flames.

True but they also lost Brodie and Hamonic ... say they should be modestly better - however they also have been underachieving as well.  Really it’s going to come down to Markstrom.
