khay
Health (mental and physical) trumps anything else in life. I hope he gets fully recovered. 1

D-Money
Not much left for free agent veteran goaltenders, unless you're willing to risk signing a guy who is 40 (or close to it). After Miller and Anderson, there's a pretty steep drop-off.

King Heffy
Hoping for a full recovery for him. Great goalie, wish he'd won a cup.
Elias Pettersson
He doesn't need the money. You don't mess with a heart condition, especially when you have family. He's pushing 40. Had a great career and is a Hall of Famer. Good luck with the rest of your life my Swedish friend. I'll remember all the great memories you provided us. 1

How I pictured it happening: (don't @ me, everyone) Heh I don't think that would be in bad taste, sometimes humor helps in the darker side of a situation.
grandmaster
Sad end to a great player. I can’t see him come back. On another note, the Caps better figure out their goaltending situation. It’s very slim pickings out there....

Most likely Georgiev for the Rangers, while Sorokin will be the likely backup for the Islanders. Probably split duties between Ullmark and Hutton in Buffalo.

If he winds up retiring because he just wants to appreciate time with his wife and kids, I wouldn't blame him at all. Health and family come first. It almost sounds like it...but, after being away from the game for awhile, sometimes that changes. Fully support any player's decision to retire to be with family....a lot of important milestones are missed that you can't ever get back. They do sacrifice a lot...people gripe about their pay but that stuff you can't put a price on.
Rob_Zepp
If it wasn't a serious situation one could be tempted to say a "heart condition" is why LE is no longer in the NHL too.
