I really DON'T have confidence in our healthcare system or the response measures at the moment....there have been stories on overcrowding and the lack of adequate resources.   And it would be an overwhelming thing to just do business as usual and expect things would just be handled.  We all need to do our part to prevent that as much as possible.

but you should. They did a very good job with SARS, and they learned those lessons from that and are implementing the things that can be done. So far the numbers in Canada are following a good line all things considered.

Overcrowding is unavoidable, we just can't afford to have empty beds 99% of the time.

Too many losers out there to trust the people to do what’s best for everyone.  Just look how people vote!

sure but even most of them have some level of self interest. For the others.... Darwin awards I suppose.

No fever = no virus?  @DrJockitch

Really at this point we are deferring these questions to public health.

The most consistent symptom does seem to be fever, in the young and healthy especially.

As much as I don't mind discussing general situations, I won't give medical advice on this board.

Learned nothing. been following YVR arrivals, Chinese flights here ongoing. Hangzhou and Shanghai on the first page alone: https://www.yvr.ca/en/passengers/flights/arriving-flights

Not to mention Iranian and Italian arrivals.

please stop with this kind of post, honestly you've posted misinformation before and it doesn't help anyone. I doubt you were even old enough to remember SARS.

so if your gf or wife, or family member

or coworker

is over seas

you think it necessary

to strand them there indefinitely?

travel restrictions do not really impact the virus spread much

we already have community cases

that needs to be the focus now

for your info we will not be able to stop the virus

we are only trying to spread out the infection occurences

so we do not have everyone get infected at the same time

and overload the medical system

the virus cannot be stopped.. i hope you do not believe it can be

Travel restrictions can help early.  Once one percent of the population or four different sites of infection are established in the country, they probably don't help much.

Still isolation after travelling is likely a good idea.

We're being asked to self-quarantine but we can't ask the gov't to stop flying people in?

no, I think the greater disservice is the line you're towing. That we've responded (we have a sign at the airport), or that we're prepared. Neither are true.
