it has to do more with the ability to create social distance then that people go to a location in numbers

a lot of those facilities can avoid crowding of attendees

There are large areas within all those places where people can gather in numbers. Most do it without even realizing they're doing so. Why not shut it down and avoid the possibility?

I've presented facts. Irans numbers, facts. Italy's  numbers, facts. YVR arrivalss, facts. ICU bed numbers from an academic source, facts. You seem more inclined to cherry pick by ignoring all these.

you've also posted 'facts' from fake twitter accounts and have claimed Canada's not acting. You're on some sort of tack here, not really sure why but I suspect you're going to continue. You can feel free not to respond.

This is confounding to say the least. Yes, I believe air traffic should have been shut down, borders too. What would it have done to our economy? look at what has already been done, TSX down 20%, asinine point.

So you say.  But did any of the medical experts they're listening too say close the borders?  Cancel travel?  You think 20% is bad?  Imagine 6 weeks of no inner or outer travel while this is still occurring around the globe.

You can call it asinine but you can't claim it's wrong

Thank you. I do think it is just a bad flu as my cough has not been worsening.

The cough doesn't need to worsen. It's defined as a dry, persistent cough.

I just find it a bit silly that people with a minor cold are telling others with a severe fever and coughing not to worry just because don't have shortness of breath.. as far as I know pneumonia would be a latter developments of the virus and that is what would cause shortness of breath.

The main symptoms according to health professionals I have talked to are the aforementioned cough, shortness of breath, a temperature of at least 100.4, and body aches. Runny nose and sneezing are not related to the viral illness

My only hope is that this crisis finally wakes Americans up to the need of having universal healthcare and the ineffectiveness of private health insurance in time of public health crisis.

Not holding my breath though.

God I miss our BC healthcare system right about now.

it is likely best not to rely on or worry too much about what others tell you

unless they have proper medical training

you'll stress yourself otherwise

the simplest thing to do if you are sick is to get medical advise from someone trained to give it

the easiest way presently is calling 8-1-1

if you do not have urgency, you can consider calling when the lines might be less busy

apparently some insurance companies are waiving the co-pay on treatment for covid19. Which is basically universal healthcare......

because people need to take on some personal responsibility

and change their behaviour for the time being

and discipline themselves to create social distancing

we can remind each other as we meet each other

what the new appropriate way to socially interact is

while this pandemic is ongoing

everyone has the ability to learn

no need to force everyone to stay isolated at home always

and close down every possible form of diversion or entertainment

'take out China, Iran, and Italy's numbers' you lost me right there. Talk about convenient. The Spanish flu was 2.5%, so your lower estimates don't make me feel any better.

How is taking out those 3 convenient?  There's 110+ other data points to work with.  That tells a much better story which is also consistent with China's numbers.  Italy and Iran are outliers right now.

What exactly does the spanish flu have to do with a completely different virus?

For all of Canada's inability to deal with this, it does pale in comparison to assigning the task to Kushner:

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/13/jared-kushner-combat-coronavirus-facebook-127941

Quote

“Tonight I was asked by Jared through my son-in-law for my recommendations, that’s when I turned to you my fellow BAFERD’s for help,” he wrote using a nickname for Bad Ass &^@#ing Emergency Room Doctors. “Between patients tonight I have reviewed your responses and will summarize what I am sending to Jared for your PEER review before I send it.”

“Jared is reading now,” Kloss followed up later.

We'll see if this facebook group pans out.

Thank you for scaring me even more

My temperature has been getting better tho, so I guess covid or not, I have managed to fight it off.. so now that makes me wonder.. can people recovered from covid still spread the virus for a few days after their symptoms go away??

Isn’t it two in isolation?  Stay home, drink booze, watch porn.

I'm sure we'll have it out again. Do keep in mind I never levied insults or implied you were some sort of sadist that enjoyed this. No, that latter designation was reserved for me, something I won't soon forget.

This isn't the time for a teaching moment. That time has passed. Relying on people to change their ingrained, subconscious habits in time is a fool's errand, and could have dire consequences. The best way to prevent a fool from cutting themselves isn't to show them how to use a knife properly, it's to take the knife away from them.

The pandemic is ongoing because of the virulence of the virus.

Has the government stated that there is a curfew? Martial law? No. Shutting down aquariums and galleries is more than likely a necessity at this point. How that impacts someone's enjoyment at this point is irrelevant.

Not really exactly...

Still have deductibles to consider and some does not equal all.

Guess better than nothing though.

Call 811, Nuck. They'll give you the lowdown. Not trying to scare you. Just giving you the facts. The people on 811 will let you know what your best course of action is. The fact that your temperature is decreasing is a great sign though.

i don't agree

increased hand washing is recommended

and many people will adopt that habit

social distancing is also recommended

and people can learn that

you want them to learn to not go to facilities

because you want them closed

people learn constantly

not sure why you think people are limited in their ability to learn
