I would tweet back that God wanted you to get Covid-19.   And if you belief was strong enough, then you will survive.  If not, then you will die.  But for the low price of $1000, I will pray for you and you will be guaranteed to recover.

Looks like the UK is getting some much needed help. Hope it all goes well.

U.K. approves Pfizer coronavirus vaccine for emergency use

British officials authorized a COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use on Wednesday, green-lighting the world's first shot against the virus that's backed by rigorous science and taking a major step toward eventually ending the pandemic.

The go-ahead for the vaccine developed by American drugmaker Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech comes as the virus surges again in the United States and Europe, putting pressure on hospitals and morgues in some places and forcing new rounds of restrictions that have devastated economies.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, which licenses drugs in the U.K., recommended the vaccine could be used after it reviewed the results of clinical trials that showed the vaccine was 95 per cent effective overall — and that it also offered significant protection for older people, among those most at risk of dying from the disease. But the vaccine remains experimental while final testing is done.

"It's fantastic," British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said. "The vaccine will begin to be made available across the U.K. from next week. It's the protection of vaccines that will ultimately allow us to reclaim our lives and get the economy moving again."

It's so nice to finally see some glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.  2020 has been a year to forget.  One month to go and we can flip the page and start fresh for hopefully a much better 2021.

except we're not likely to see much actual relief until after next summer.  We've still got a long way to go and a lot of pain and suffering to endure before that

As a whole country? No.  But if vaccines are issued to the elderly and those that need it most first, 2021 will look a lot brighter than 2020.

maybe a few professions do, but not most of us. Most of us simply need to keep sitting on the couch and watching Netflix.

Agree with this as well.  If we can reduce the mortality rate and risk to the most vulnerable, we can see a lot of relief.  Far fewer hospitalizations, relief for the LTC homes and families of those that live in them.  We still have a long way to go, but some relief for those populations would be fantastic.  I'm guessing it will be a at least another year before we can say that for the majority this virus is behind us.  Just to see a reduction in both the level of anxiety most of us are dealing with and the level of stress on the health care and education systems would be so positive.

good, more for me then.

Not that we needed a reminder, but man covid has really provided a reminder of just how stupid and selfish a large percentage of people are. It's tiring to keep having to hear about them and try to deal with the damage they are happy to do.

It's hardly asinine to reject an injection of something that came off the assembly line in record time, in mass quantity, that hasn't been used beyond test trials. If people wish to wait a year or two because there is still doubt or suspicion or hesitation or to never get it then that is entirely within their right of course.
