this one could be the game changer. - doesn’t have the reaction issue the Pfizer one has had (on about 5 people)

but can be stored at room temperature and can be transported and stored easily. This is probably the one that gets the widest use globally and especially in getting to hard to reach areas.

also would be good to help bring the vaccine to the people than the people have to go to the vaccine. (Is wouldn’t need specialist storing facilities) so could have vaccinations done at schools and local community centres and even have the most vulnerable vaccinated in their own home.

also cost wise it’s a game changer as well especially for poorer nations. Below is the list of prices the EU is paying for vaccines

  • Oxford/AstraZeneca: €1.78 (£1.61).

  • Johnson & Johnson: $8.50 (£6.30).

  • Sanofi/GSK: €7.56.

  • Pfizer/BioNTech: €12.

  • CureVac: €10.

  • Moderna: $18.

I thought Covid-19 wasn't anything to worry about.   /s

Any reasonable parent of two young children should use this as a warning.   If you don't take this pandemic seriously, your kids may grow up without you.  That, or you may end up with significant health issues that will make raising said children much more difficult.

Sad that he's passed away, horrible for his wife and kids.  Cynical me is curious about what his behaviour was prior to infection - he's a Republican, was he taking any precautions or not so much?

Quite the assumption there sparky. Please tell me how you can detect pre existing medical conditions through a photo.

Remember, one rule for them, one rule for the rest of us.

While some are apparently living in fear of a virus, the rest are living their lives.

Obviously. There's more than a handful politicians who were going to do this. So.. if you wanted to see a few friends for Christmas.. go for it. These assholes aren't playing by their own rules so why should you.

I like that our numbers are trending downward, however, feel it's likely more attributed to less testing over the holidays than less COVID.  Just my gut reaction to seeing the drops.

Yep...just went and checked it out:

Quote

But the number of tests done over those five days dropped by around 50 per cent compared to the same period in the previous week. Just 4,675 tests were completed in the last 24 hours, compared to 8,515 on Dec. 22.

because that just compounds an already bad situation.  You're either part of the solution or part of the problem

I just ost my father in law on Monday and we've spent two days in my mother in laws house.........it's a gathering and we understand that, but we've stayed masked the whole time.  It's the best we could do, but we've been cognizant of it the whole time.  Such a strange situation to be in.

So  sorry that you've lost someone, and sad that it's in such difficult circumstances.  Virtual hugs.

New Years is ruined. But my family has been 'distancing' this whole time and working from home, barely going anywhere. The risk was extremely low and because of that a handful of us got together for Christmas. #Perspective. It was great and it was everything I thought it could have been and should have been. The authoritarians around here won't appreciate that but I don't really care.

that's mighty sociopathic of you.  The rest of us who care about our communities truly appreciate the lack of effort.

That's the exception to the rule...where it's an unavoidable "gathering" under extreme circumstances.

I, too, am sorry for your loss and how difficult it must be during these restrictions.  My condolences to your family.

When I go to Dad's, I always wear a mask despite him saying "oh, you don't have to".  Yes I do.  And I social distance and stay for minimal periods because it's just how it has to be right now....no matter how tough.  The alternative would be much tougher.

I didn't compare the hospital numbers from the last 5 days to those prior.  Those don't lie.
