Every time someone sneezes or coughs will spread the virus. That's why work places should stagger work hrs so not everyone is trying to get to work, say 8 or 9am. Working from home if possible also helps. Wait for the next train, take a bus etc.

It is winter time, some people deal with allergies or chronic congestion issues that leave them more susceptible to common sickness this time of year. Flu symptoms absolutely isolate or atleast call for a test. But if you have a bit of a stuffed nose do you need to stop going to work & isolate yourself for 2 weeks? Its kind of a black & white take. Does anyone who doesn't feel 100% on any level need to isolate? Its not like we are doing mass testing where people can easily find out. According to people in this thread (the last time I was in here, anyways) it seems 811 is more concerned with people who have traveled or are in direct contact with those have traveled anyways. As far as selfish hoarders, absolutely disgusting I agree 100%. Straight up pathetic. Those people will get theirs. People wonder why so many die every flu season. That's is why. We are taught to tough it out and go to work even when sick. As a result, it spreads and the ones that get really sick or die are the most vulnerable. When was the last time everyone is talking about social distancing or cough into elbow, wash your hands? Almost never. Just go to any public washroom or Canucks arena, so many guys go out without washing their hands. By most estimates, COVID-19 will be about 10 times more deadly than the seasonal flu. But the problem is added by the rate of new cases, becuase it is a new outbreak. Since there is no immunity in the population, it will spread quicker and once there is too many people seeking care, our hospitals and ICU will be overwhelmed. It is still the flu season, and all the other diseases don't have a seasonality (heart attack, stroke, etc). Eventually people will die not just from COVID-19 and flu, but also from lack of resources for all other diseases. So even you are healthy, best to isolate as much as you can. Avoid crowds, long lines, unnecessary travel. You can be the next vector to someone else's death. 3 1 2 1

I believe that documentary was called "Gringo, the John McAfee story" or something like that. And you're right, a loonie. Like what is there to do all day? Sit and collect money as the vacancy rates are so low that people are living on the streets. So basically quit work to sit at Starbucks making reservations in a get rich quick scheme. You have 4 units, quit yer whining. Rent them on a monthly basis so people have a place to live or sell them. Rather than expecting any form of empathy. Now you know how those people struggling to pay ridiculous rents feel. On a regular basis. Suck it up? You mean there are drawbacks from allowing people to go through the turnstiles of your units as you collect handfuls of cash? Aw, sorry about that. And just when it was seemingly clear sailing to allow for your mock hotel rooms in units meant to be homes. I had an air bnb next door...I can tell you, it's a huge pain in the ass for others. The worry of safety (as strangers flood in/out without much of a trace of the who's or why's). Bed bugs. Etc.
-DLC-
As the leeches of society reveal themselves one slimy creature at a time.... I bought tp to give to those in need (my Dad's neighbour is a senior who's helped him in times of trouble...what goes around comes around so I got him some because he couldn't find any). There is such a sense of community in some places (like this fellow who's helped us in times of need). My complex too...adversity can really bring people together. Or...set them apart in a very bad way. I hate these people. They are all that's wrong with the world today.... They are selfish and care only about...self. Screw everyone else. May karma deliver a truck load of crap your way to go with your tp. Can't even park in a spot...no respect for anything it seems. Including self. Share the hell out of these stories and out these monsters.

Wasn’t THAT long ago when we had that major snow dump and the city was giving away salt (it was pretty much sold out in many places). Didn’t take long for the schmucks to try and make a buck out of it. Some were filling multiple large garbage bins full of salt (despite the two smaller bag limit) in order to sell it online. There ARE good people like yourself in times like this (one retired guy in our block had this snow blower and basically shoveled our whole block during that large dump). I bought the guy a six pack of beer as a token of my appreciation for his efforts. Still gives me hope for the world. Truth be told, my actions were really spurred by a selfless man who does SO much for my Dad others in general...won't accept anything in return (I've gotten creative in payback - things like planters for his yard and...tp). So it's really a pay it forward that he's started. What goes around comes around stuff. If there were more people like Graham (and his wife, Wanda), the world would be set. Volunteer police. Senior shoppers. And neighbourhood angels. Shovels Dad's snow, takes out his garbage and recycling. Picks up necessities in between my visits. I, too, think of the similarities in the free salt deal when I see this stuff. Free (or a way to profit from) anything shows vultures in action.

If people relax in a "no big deal" way, it puts vulnerable people at risk. Because they may NOT recover and that needs to be in the forefront of the messages that are circulating. That if we don't do what's necessary (even if the personal risk is low), we're being irresponsible. It's not just about us and our chance of recovery and survival...it's how we take care of each other. 4
