Seems reasonable, we may need their help as much as they may need ours.

I don't have a problem with keeping the border open for trade purposes, but why continue having a ferry from Wa to Victoria twice a day and soon there will be one from Anacoretes to Sidney.  I get that they need to get the snowbirds with RVs back to the Island, but after end of March those ferries should be shut down.  Stragglers can come up via the mainland.  I'm sure there are other situations like this throughout Canada.

Border should be closed with the exception of trade.

Natural vaccine is far off.  A year likely.  Best we accept reality, and let nature take its course.  This virus culls the weak.  It’s not harming our children and healthiest working class.  Seems like it’s nature doing what nature does.

This is a really gross way of thinking.

Something confusing about not wanting to cull the sick and the elderly @totallyserious2233?

way too little, way too late. It is extremely frustrating to know we had an advantage and opportunity at one point to educate,  prepare, implement a shutdown with better control foresight and frankly ability to do so orderly.

I was almost hoping the Government just came out and announced State of Emergency, unlocking access to resources, funds and personnel and keeping people home unless otherwise essential not to. We had that opportunity. The segmented and lack of consistency between provinces and the lax attitude around points of entry and for who is mind boggling. I was a fan of not going through what Italy has and is but we haven't learned.

No kidding.  Not suprised at all. That's what the country gets for giving this man another term. Good job Canada.

This is scary.  Herd immunity is pointless if this is what's happening:

This is terrifying.

I've read (and obviously EVERYTHING is early/speculative) that this could be due to patients being prematurely discharged in order to free up needed hospital beds. So I guess the best case scenario is that these people weren't fully recovered before stopping their treatment.

If these people are getting completely reinfected, that's a different story.

There is no herd immunity for something without a vaccine; this is why the virus spread proficiently. There are ongoing tests being done to see where the virus is hiding, and like a doctor in Wuhan released, and as the focus of some new studies indicates, it could be in the central nervous system. This is why* people need to be on incubators when in critical care.

This isn't new news, and I caution people from spinning out of control from this information.

edit: one reason why

You know what else nature does? Fight to survive.

The problem is we just don't know yet. It can be anything from different immune responses, people not actually getting rid of the virus in the first place but testing false negative ( which happens ) then showing as positive again when it was really the same infection not finished yet. Testing could also be faulty. I guess this is merely things we will gain more knowledge with as time goes on and the numbers get larger.

People complaining the government hasn't closed borders

Government closes borders.

People complaining not enough has been done now or that they want more or more sooner

You literally cannot make anyone happy can you?

Social impacts of coronavirus will also have long-term effects

Mon 16 Mar 2020 16:52:52 GMT

The impacts are going to be long-lasting

The Daily Mail reports today that divorce rates in China have spiked because "couples are spending too much time together at home" during the virus.
