The government officials in charge are taking information, guidance, and recommendations from the WHO, CDC, and the worlds leading and their countries leading health experts and making decisions based on what these people are saying will be best for public health and safety. The same WHO which was having trouble deciding whether this should be declared a global emergency. I think I am done here. Wish you all well. I understand that this virus is a serious situation but I am not going to stop living my life based on the vagaries of our leaders. China can take draconian measures to stop this virus but this is a free country and I and other citizens have the right to make choices based on the way we see fit to deal with this crisis. If anything what is truly frightening to me is how many people seem content on listening to the government verbatim in this situation. What are we going to do at the time of an election? Would be people be fine with cancelling elections? Locking yourself up is giving up your rights, making it easier for authoritarian governments to gain control of the masses.

It's very disheartening and here's why: This is a new virus and it's still really being "figured out". So if experts don't have all the answers (they don't), we certainly don't either. There's a thing about erring on the side of caution. A disruption of weeks is a pain in the butt for sure. But that's something most are willing to do if it means sparing lives. And it could. If we collectively put our lives on hold, it could save some lives. Being a responsible human being but, beyond that, a compassionate one, means we're willing to put up with a bit of inconvenience for something much more important. Other human beings. It's fine to state an opinion and want to go against the grain and what we are being asked to do by leaders, experts, and health officials. But it's really irresponsible to hammer it home, over and over, like it's an important message. Don't put your damn life on hold....but you're standing out in a bad way by proclaiming like a champion. My Dad's battled cancer and is awaiting extremely delicate/risky surgery when this does cool down. It really ticks me off to hear selfish whimpers ... when I am forced to go get his prescription I pray (even though I'm not religious) I don't carry something back to him. I scrub down, change my clothes and go deal with necessities for him. It's so infuriating to hear this argument. Go on - go about your business then. Just don't brag about it here because that's really really upsetting to some who value human life more than a momentary bit of freedom to do as they please. I couldn't have said it any better!! The fact that some don't get it is unreal to me!

Popular Post -DLC-
Quote Lets just focus on keeping this under control, instead of fake news and panic reactions. This is worldwide. Set an example. Absolutely ^^ This thread is to share information and, hopefully, act as a community in support of one another. People with this mindset: Quote They are killing the economy and life cause a tiny precentage of the population has died from it. (I won't even correct the spelling because it sort of gives me a clue) need to understand that, for that tiny percentage....they're not numbers. They're someone's Grandma or Grandpa and there are families who will grieve them. They're not population, they're people. I've stayed away from this thread and have tried to be positive because it's really time to steer clear of bickering..there's enough stress as it is (for most). So let's try to be respectful and considerate instead of IN YOUR FACE. 3 2

LOL...I realized today "I'm pretty good at this social distancing stuff". It's kind of how I roll...I'm totally in my element. Thing is, no one's saying we have to climb into a dark cave...go for a bike ride. A walk. Put on some music and grab some free weights. We're really only limited by our own lack of creativity. Why do you think our experience will be better than Europe? We have a 3000 mile unprotected border with the US THAT REMAINS open! They have 25 percent of their population that has no access to health care. No testing. No solution for them. They have a huge shortage of testing and care for the ones that have any coverage. Their experience is going to be awful. We are doing better but ours will worsen while the border stays open and people still keep thinking a sunny disposition will solve it. Stop.please.
