Conservative anti-vaxx commentator Dennis Prager reveals he has COVID, claims he got it on purpose for 'natural immunity', and says he's been treating it with drugs including Regeneron, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin

  • Conservative pundit Dennis Prager said had COVID-19 and had contracted it on purpose by socializing and getting close to strangers
  • Prager said that although his plan sounds 'bizarre' he did it in order to achieve 'natural immunity and be taken care of by therapeutics'
  • Prager said he continues to take a variety of other remedies including Regeneron, zinc, azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin
  • The Food & Drug Administration reports that neither hydroxychloroquine nor ivermectin is an effective treatment for COVID
  • Although Prager appears convinced 'natural immunity' from the virus is better, the National Institutes of Health, say vaccines confer greater protection

I know most conservatives don't think this way, but why are they letting people like this run their political parties?

Covid-19: New mutation of Delta variant under close watch in UK

Officials are keeping a close watch on a new descendant of the Delta variant of Covid that is causing a growing number of infections.

Delta is the UK's dominant variant, but latest official data suggests 6% of Covid cases that have been genetically sequenced are of a new type.

AY.4.2, which some are calling "Delta Plus", contains mutations that might give the virus survival advantages.

Tests are under way to understand how much of a threat it may pose.

Experts say it is unlikely to take off in a big way or escape current vaccines.

It is not yet considered a variant of concern, or a variant under investigation - the categories assigned to variants and the level of risk associated with them.

What is AY.4.2?

There are thousands of different types - or variants - of Covid circulating across the world. Viruses mutate all the time, so it is not surprising to see new versions emerge.

Original Delta was classified as a variant of concern in the UK in May 2021 after overtaking the Alpha variant to become the dominant type of Covid in circulation.

But in July 2021 experts identified AY.4.2.

This offshoot or sublineage of Delta has been increasing slowly since then. It includes some new mutations affecting the spike protein, which the virus uses to penetrate our cells.

So far, there is no indication that it is considerably more transmissible as a result of these changes, but it is something experts are studying.

Scientists are constantly checking for new genetic changes that Covid is undergoing.

Some emerging variants are worrying, but many are inconsequential. The difficult job is spotting, tracking and managing the ones that could matter.

The UK is a front-runner in carrying out these vital lab analyses, having completed more than a million tests so far.

The first step is to pick up new mutants worth watching, such as this new offshoot - AY.4.2.

Next, if there is a strong suggestion that the genetic changes might make the virus more contagious, it is classified as a variant under investigation and more checks are done.

If it becomes clearer that it could be more transmissible and escape some of the built up immunity from past infections or vaccines, or potentially cause more serious disease, it is moved into the variant of concern category. That's the one Delta belongs to.

At this stage, experts don't think AY.4.2 is likely to take hold - so in time it could well burn out and drop off the watch list.

Prof Francois Balloux, director of University College London's Genetics Institute, said: "It is potentially a marginally more infectious strain.

"It's nothing compared with what we saw with Alpha and Delta, which were something like 50 to 60 percent more transmissible. So we are talking about something quite subtle here and that is currently under investigation.

"It is likely to be up to 10 percent more transmissible.

"It's good that we are aware. It's excellent that we have the facilities and infrastructure in place to see anything that might be a bit suspicious.

"At this stage I would say wait and see, don't panic. It might be slightly, subtly more transmissible but it is not something absolutely disastrous like we saw previously."

A few cases have also been identified in US. There had been some in Denmark but new infections with AY.4.2 have since gone down.

The UK is already offering booster doses of Covid vaccine to higher risk people ahead of winter to make sure they have the fullest protection against coronavirus.

There is no suggestion that a new update of the vaccine will be needed to protect against any of the existing variants of the pandemic virus.

Its not hard for those folks. Interesting term in this article I haven't heard before that explains a lot - "conspirituality". We have our own little group on here like this.

Submitted data earlier this month.  FDA approval meeting is at the end of the month.  Indications are that shots in arms should be before Christmas break.

Children under 5 data is expected later this year.

The state of possible future President DeathSantos.  That country is effed.

So...like wearing a mask?

School community.  Like the 13 Miami-Dade staffers who died in the first weeks back to school this year from Covid and not from some delusional phenomena.

https://www.npr.org/2021/09/08/1035157226/miami-covid-19-deaths-schools-district

At least 13 employees of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools have died from complications of COVID-19 since Aug. 16, according to district officials.

Those who died include teachers, school bus drivers, a security worker and a cafeteria manager.

"It is a big number. It is a bruising statistic that we need to absolutely internalize," Miami-Dade school Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho told NPR's Here & Now.

According to the president of United Teachers of Dade, Karla Hernandez-Mats, all of those who died were African American and unvaccinated.

Carvalho said that while the district is blocked by law from requiring employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or even asking whether they are vaccinated, he is urging people to get the shot.

"This sad statistic underscores the impact of misinformation and disinformation efforts through some vocal entities, who quite frankly profess anything but scientific reality," Carvalho said. "The outcome, the consequence is the death of individuals, and that's just not acceptable."

The school system — which is the fourth-largest district in the country — will try to increase the vaccination rate among staffers by offering $275 to any employee who shows proof of vaccination.

An uncertain start to the school year

Carvalho said that among the 13 deaths, the majority of people contracted COVID-19 and died before the beginning of the school year. One person had direct contact with students, he said.

Miami-Dade students returned to the classroom on Aug. 23 with a requirement that they wear masks as a spike in infections and deaths has continued to plague Florida.

The mask mandate was a violation of an order signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis barring schools from requiring that students wear face coverings and leaving that decision to their parents.

DeSantis has withheld funding from two school districts that violated his order, but Carvalho said that Miami-Dade had not yet lost any money.

The district has an online portal that tracks COVID-19 cases among its employees and staff, and it is continuing to urge all of those who are eligible to get vaccinated.

30% of ICU are vaccinated?

I'm looking forward to the day that 100% of the people in ICU are vaccinated.

The math proves that number will be very, very small compared to the historical records.

And older/immunocompromised.  The few times I've seen age breakdowns, the partially vaccinated and vaccinated hospitalizations have median ages that are greater than the unvaccinated.  Like this chart from BC data earlier this summer (June).

In the anti-vaxx world, even one breakthrough case is evidence enough that the vax is crap so we shouldn't take it.

I cannot find it?

In Florida teachers protested blocking students from entering school unless they wore masks; against the law passed by their Conservative Governor.

A parent had a counter protest sign, paraphrasing; asking what proof they had that masks saved lives?

The teacher held up two death certificates of two teachers in their school that had just passed away...
