Yep. That’s why I always scroll to the bottom of VC’s update to see the cases/ hospitalizations per 100,000. It really says it all. 385 vs 35 for cases, 69 vs 2.5 for hospitalizations. It’s beyond my comprehension how anti-vaxxers don’t/ can’t/ won’t see this. It really is black and white. At least the numbers show Canada doesn’t have as many stupid people as other countries I suppose. Trying to find a positive

But wont someone think of the 10 people who have had bad reactions to the vaccine? Surely they outweigh the 2000+ deaths from covid and the thousands of of long term sufferers.

that 68% is also responsible for the extremely unfair situation the fully vaxxed but still vulnerable people are in. The covidiots have no right to put these people at risk, yet here we are.

So we're going to be required to get a third shot within 7 months and a fourth within 13 months.  Really not keen on that.  Why does the flu shot only require one in 12 months and covid 4 over 13 months?

No, all covid vaccines are optional, except for those working in hospitals, care homes and marine transportation. All else is the employers choice to implement or not, afaik.

and no one is required to do take the vax, at all.  You have a choice.  I think I also heard them say that not getting the booster won't affect vax status, if you've already had two

• People who are double jabbed have a lower, but still appreciable, risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant compared with unvaccinated people
• They also appear to be just as infectious
• Vaccinated people clear the infection more quickly, but their peak viral load - when people are most infectious - is similar to that seen in unvaccinated people
• This may explain why they can still readily pass on the virus in household settings

Prof Ajit Lalvani, of Imperial College London, UK, who co-led the study, said: "The ongoing transmission we are seeing between vaccinated people makes it essential for unvaccinated people to get vaccinated to protect themselves from acquiring infection and severe Covid-19, especially as more people will be spending time inside in close proximity during the winter months.

"We found that susceptibility to infection increased already within a few months after the second vaccine dose - so those eligible for booster shots should get them promptly."

Co-lead Dr Anika Singanayagam, also from Imperial, said: "Our findings provide important insights into the effect of vaccination in the face of new variants, and specifically, why the Delta variant is continuing to cause high Covid case numbers around the world, even in countries with high vaccination rates. 

"Continued public health and social measures to curb transmission - such as mask wearing, social distancing, and testing - thus remain important, even in vaccinated individuals." 

 

 

This is why it’s important to all be vaccinated and not rely on others. Also why booster jabs are important

Those 4000 workers represent just over 3%.  I have a feeling that there will be a significant number of those workers who will get the jab, and a bunch who will be looking for sympathy that they shouldn't get.

Health Minister Adrian Dix hopes most will still get vaccinated to they can return to work

 

More than 4,000 health-care workers in B.C. who have not received at least one dose of vaccine were placed on unpaid leave on Tuesday. They have until Nov. 15 to get their first dose or they will be fired. In the meantime, the minister of health said health authorities have been working on plans to fill those vacancies.

 

There are about 126,000 public-sector health-care workers in B.C.

No one is required unless they want to pay off their bills (Most workplaces require it).   Multiple people I know, have had to take heart medication after vaccine, so pardon the hesitation for a 3rd,4th and 5th boosters.  There are numerous studies that being double dosed provides protection longer than 6 months that will keep us out of the ICU.

Considering how low the cases of myocarditis (even rarer than it is to get it from Covid) your friend group must be pretty unlucky. It is amazing how many of the anti vaxx crowd know everybody with all of the adverse reactions. It's almost unbelievable.

 

You can't imply something is required and then show proof that it's a choice btw.

B.C. COVID-19 pandemic update:

 

As of Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, 89.8% (4,160,780) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 84.9% (3,933,596) have received their second dose.

 

In addition, 90.2% (3,901,337) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 85.5% (3,697,157) have received their second dose.

 

B.C. is reporting 758 new cases of COVID-19, including two epi-linked cases, for a total of 204,330 cases in the province.

 

There are 4,961 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 196,858 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 434 individuals are in hospital and 155 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

 

The new/active cases include:

• 329 new cases in Fraser Health
  • Total active cases: 2,153
• 74 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
  • Total active cases: 678
• 108 new cases in Interior Health
  • Total active cases: 664
• 133 new cases in Northern Health
  • Total active cases: 821
• 114 new cases in Island Health
  • Total active cases: 586
• no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
  • Total active cases: 59

In the past 24 hours, 10 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,147.

 

The new deaths include:

There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at Tabor Manor (Fraser Health), for a total of 33 active outbreaks, including:
