They also have had some of the strictest lock downs. In the last 2 weeks there have been 7 deaths due to covid. What this twitter post also decided not to mention is that there is no confirmation that the hospitals are getting full from covid patients nor are the crematoriums getting packed from covid death patients. Oh really? If so, why did China need to do a full-on lockdown? For all the supposed 'tyranny' that this current government is accused of, we sure have it good here. Most of the people are vaccinated and our ability to return to our normal routines, relatively speaking, is a testament to our vaccines and/or health measures. China did the exact opposite of us, and actually had to lock themselves down several times more. Come on man, it's not hard to put the pieces together on this. China is a poorly run country that has corrupt politicians making decisions that affect billions of their people.

I'm being serious here 2.5 years ago there were videos of people dying in the streets like this was the plague. This isn't the plague. Call me skeptical You should take things with a grain of salt. The problem is that you aren't doing your due diligence when doing so. From the other posts you've made, you are selectively remembering info and that does not give you the full picture. China's propaganda machine is always running 100 percent, but the problem is that your rational skills are lacking. As other posters have pointed out, the person you THOUGHT was a scientific representative from China was actually someone in America. This is an unforgivable mistake for someone who claims to be 'skeptical'. You should not be getting facts wrong at all.
spur1
Reading today that Alberta nurses are asking for an indoor mask mandate. The inmate running the asylum will have none of it. 1 1

nuckin_futz
China estimates nearly 18% of population contracted Covid in first 20 days of December That's roughly 248 million people The country's National Health Commission adds that nearly 37 million persons in China may have been infected by Covid in a single day this week itself. Well, it's not too surprising after seen Beijing abandon its now defunct zero-Covid policy. But the numbers are interesting as it is unclear how did authorities derive them after having put a stop to their mass testing and also introducing home quarantine measures. An interesting point in the minutes of its most recent meeting released by the health authority, is that there was no mention or discussion on how many people may have died from the latest outbreak. For added context, the estimated 37 million daily infections for 20 December far surpasses the reported figure for the official Covid tally of 3,049 cases across the country. MikeBossy
So after 2 years 1 initial vaccination and 3 boosters (last 1 4 weeks ago was the new Pfizer Bivalent) I contracted COVID Dec 18th. Won't lie it whooped my arse for 3 days but here we are Christmas Eve and I am back on my feet and will be able to visit family over Christmas while staying masked when visiting them. As someone with high blood pressure/high cholesterol and asthmatic I can only imagine how much worse this could have been with out the vaccine. Merry Christmas CDC and be safe, be vigilant and best to all in the new year. 1

Canadian
The 18% number quoted is dispersed over the whole country. In big cities, I would wager to bet the number is close to 90% - 95% of people having caught it within the first week of opening up. December 7th was the rule change to no longer test. By December 16th, almost everyone I know had contracted it. A few lucky ones were able to avoid it until the week of 17-23. I only know two people who have avoided it, in a big city, and that’s because they’ve locked themselves away in their apartment this month. Everyone else got it - and got over it within a few days. It would be senior and at-risk children at most risk. I had to take my son to the hospital and one hospital had a 400-child-patient wait and had stopped accepting. In the hospital I eventually ended up in, the emergency pediatric fever clinic had a four hour wait and there were a couple newborn babies who had sepsis or liver failure by the time parents were able to see their doctor.
