[PTO] Craig Anderson with Capitals

Recommended Posts

If Copley and Vanecek cannot outperform Anderson, then they made the right choice bringing him for a tryout. Another benefit of a taxi squad is that they can still have the veteran presence in practice, but still play the younger goalies in game instead.

I wonder if the Canucks would consider bringing in Schneider on a PTO.

He has familiarity with the city and the organization, and more importantly Ian Clark.

Not too many better opportunities to rebuild his game than here. Might even get 4 or 5 games.

Im sure he’d like to play but I don’t see many teams giving him backup duties.

No preseason this year so zero chance of happening.

Zero chance he gets games?

There will be injuries with the condensed schedule, so we’re gonna need an extra goalie.

I don’t know about you but I don’t have much confidence in Kielly, and DiPietro has gotta play regularly.

There will be better available goalies imo Schneider is done at this point confidence and hip injury leaves about a dozen better options on the market and including Kielly and DiPietro

I don’t see a ton of goalie willing to sign to be 3rd string. Any examples?

As for Dipietro they’re not gonna let him sit and practice. Him and Kielly will be playing in the AHL.

They will not be dressing/carrying a third string goalie and will sign or call up a goalie as needed.

They will absolutely bring another goalie in their taxi squad. Every team will as there’s no limits for goalies.

You can’t simply sign or call up a goalie if an injury hits with quarantine rules. You need a third goalie ready to go.

There are better options than Schneider then

Again examples?

All they really need to be is a good character guy that can practice with the team just in case we need a guy. Chances are they don’t even play.

Maybe Jimmy Howard but I don’t see him jumping at anything other than a backup role.

Any goalie that has more than zero confidence and doesn’t have bad hips. The Schneider ship has sailed it is time to move on.

Again he would be practicing (mostly with Clark) just in case we need a warm body to be a backup.

No one would be expecting for him to play any games so his bad hips are irrelevant really. By all accounts he’s healthy and can play either way.

If by the ship has sailed you mean he won’t play for us I agree. As a third string guy that can practice and rebuild his game under his former goalie coach, I can’t see a much better fit.

He got injured the first game of 2019 there are dozens of better options. Period.

Also which is it? He plays no games or we desperately need a 3rd goalie to play?

Dozens huh? Care to name one?

You seem to think this player has to be a good player. I can tell you not too many good goalies with game left are going to sign to be a practice goalie. Better off to be a starter in the AHL.

We just need somebody to fill that spot so we never have to play our Zamboni driver. His signing would likely have zero impact on our season. Not sure why you would be so against it.
