Case Study - NJ Devils Brand Update Concept - Ember Studio

NJ is proud to welcome Sam Bennett to the Devils organization. We have been actively involved in trade talks with FLA around Sam Bennett for what feels like many months. After Sam's move today to FLA IRL we decided to get more serious and make a more compelling offer despite his obsorbadent contract. We have added some promising young forwards as of late Max Jones, Dylan Gambrell, and now Sam Bennett. We believe this will be the key to our teams success next season. Having that youth energy we hope will invigorate our veterans and give our fans something to cheer about. The day was topped with last minute additions of pending UFA's Brandon Sutter and Ryan Murray who we believe could be excellent veterans for us here in NJ moving forward.

There are obviously no guarantees acquiring pending UFA's will lead to them signing with you beyond this season. We do however believe strongly in this group and believe they may see the potential here next season. Al though we did listen to offers on several prime aged forwards we opted to hold on to group and try to make improvements for next season. Our goal this off-season will be to try and identify some expansion eligible players who we could possibly acquire for the extra 2021 1st we have or roster exempt pieces.

Our team has unfortunately had a rough season in what happens to be a year with a rather poor draft class. We however remain optimistic the player we add with our first overall pick will be a valuable member of our team or years to come. We hope next year we will be in a better position to make a run for the playoffs and not being in the draft lottery derby. Only time shall tell. Thank you to all the GM's who took the time to speak with us tonight. We wish all of the players we sent out well in their new homes.

Wishing you all the best to the end of the 2020-21 campaign! Let's get ready for draft day folks!

image.png.bd456b00b145340060a3004b407bf15f.png PENGUINS TRADE DEADLINE REPORT:

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a relatively quiet Deadline day this year but feel adding a top pairing blueliner in PK Subban along with a 2nd round pick for pending Free Agent forward Ryan Johansen was something we had to move on.

While the team may be on the outside looking in this season we feel we are patiently making moves as they present themselves that will add to our Drafting and Prospect pool while improving the club.

Overall, very happy with how the deadline went. We mortgaged quite a bit and hope it is all for nothing, but this was one of the most fun deadlines for myself. Happy with the bodies we added. Sad to lose some guys we did, but our future is also bright with a good chunk of players in our minors getting games. We look great now, and good in the future and that stayed untouched which was important. Good luck to all in the final run to the playoffs and beyond

Nice moves. But as your likely 1st round opponent, I hope for this as well. ::D

We have a trade to announce...

To CAR - Jon Merrill

To DAL - Marc Staal, Johan Sodergran, Keean Washkaruk

Thanks to @Dak Prescott (and maybe @Tony Romo, who knows?) for the negotiations.

I expected Staal to be moved to a playoff team at the deadline IRL, but it didn't happen. Detroit moved Merrill instead, and his cap hit was low as well, so I made the swap for extra playoff depth. Also cleared an extra contract spot going forward.

Great deadline everyone! Much like Tampa IRL, I'm going to be in tough to even get out of my division, let alone to the Finals again. And I'm very heavily invested in Tampa, so hopefully we'll both get through.

This looks to be the playoff roster for the Hurricanes:

Alex Ovechkin - Nazem Kadri - Reilly Smith

Andre Burakovsky - Paul Stastny - Charlie Coyle

Radim Zohorna - Ross Colton - Riley Nash

Mark Jankowski - Josh Archibald

Victor Hedman - Mikhail Sergachev

Jeremy Lauzon - Alec Martinez

Ben Chiarot - Justin Holl

Jon Merrill

Dan Renouf

Andre Vasilevskiy

Jake Allen

Just a couple forwards short of a full roster. Might get lucky with a call-up (possible with Chaffee or Mayhew for the Wild).

NJ waives Thomas Greiss, will keep him on the active roster if he clears; we just wanted to offer him up to any GM's in need of an active tender for a playoff push.

Just a reminder incase it was missed.

With Wolanin and Lafferty both normally subject to waivers...

Just wanted to mention and remind all GMs, as we are past the trade deadline now, waivers are not required for any player. They are optional at this point, however please remember the rules for sending down players without waivers:

Quote

After the trade deadline, waivers are turned off. A player who is sent down that requires waivers is required to stay on your AHL roster for at least one week. If any injury occurs to any player on your NHL roster, you are allowed to bypass this rule and recall your player sent down if it has been earlier than one week. The one week rule does not apply to players who are exempt from waivers, they may be sent down or called up as freely as possible.

For this season, we will count a player being on the COVID list as an injury that will allow you to bypass this rule.
