Congrats to MacKenzie and good luck on your stanley cup run! SJS GM was a tough cookie but stuck to his guns. Took a few days but we were able to pull it off. Popular Post 70seven
NJ SPORTS Monday, April 5, 2021 Optimism and pessimism splitting the fan base in NJ after a overhaul of the teams lineup, and organizational restructure. Team GM 70seven took over the team two seasons ago believes that the team had an opportunity to restructure after a poor start to the year in a very tough division. He had this to say this morning in talk radio NJ, “The organizations goal is to make the playoffs each and every year. However variables do play a role in life and business alike. We collectively saw an opportunity to rebuild the teams defensive core, and were able to target some significant additions. You have to give in order to get and we saw some some amazing players/people leave the organization this year. It’s been tough on everyone, but we believe in the direction we are headed.” Despite the flurry of deals, 70seven also believes there may be more deals coming. “The market has slowed” 70 said, “But were still taking calls on players and having discussions. If something makes sense, we’ll look at it.” Speculation builds around Victor Arvidsson and Cody Ceci, who’ve been rumoured in trade talks. 70seven wouldn’t comment on specifics but wouldn’t deny the rumours. Meanwhile most fans are thrilled with the disembarking of Matt Duchene and his lengthy contract, and while many are split on the teams decision to offload former number 1 selection, Alexis Lafreniere, team management felt that the opportunity to add what they believe to be an elite defender in Rasmus Dahlin, was just too hard to pass up on. Despite the down year for the leagues worst plus/minus player, team coaching staff are excited to have him on board. “Rasmus is a young player and is still learning the game. He’s an incredibly talented young man, and we’re confident he’ll work through the growing pains of learning how to play in a very tough league. It takes time, its different for everyone. Sometimes it depends on opportunity, sometimes it’s coaching, but it’s the player that’s in control, we’re very confident he’ll find his stride soon.” Time will tell if 70seven’s moves are enough to turn the team around, but they do have approximately 17M in cap space heading into free agency, and are expected to be aggressive on adding a top 6 forward to the group, that is if they can’t find one by this years trade deadline. This years IN/OUT list. Primal Optimist
51 minutes ago, Master Mind said: To LAK: Mikko Lehtonen To MTL: 2021 MIN 4th What can I say? We LOVE Mikko Lehtonen and are beyond thrilled that he made the jump to the NHL for this season. WHile his time in the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs was only a 9 game warm up, in a way, I am thankful for that, as any longer and the black hole that is the Toronto Microscope may have eaten this star with no light escaping its horrific gravity. Now heading into his 5th game with the NHL's Blue Jackets, Lehtonen looked great last night, flashes of the brilliance that made him a standout head and shoulders among the KHL blueliners last year as he notched more points than any of them, while still being a true defensively sound dman and gaining rookie of the year honours over there. in short, Mikko Lehtonen has been a superstar, just not in North America up to this point, however we view him as an outstanding addition to the club and expect to see him start to sizzle this year, and really take off next year in the North American Market. 2019-20: Jokerit of the KHL: 17 goals, 32 assists, 49 points in the regular season and followed up with 4 points in 6 playoff games. ON loan to the Jokerit this year he put up 17 points in 17 games before making his North American Debut and now has 13 games in the NHL. It has been a long journey from his 2014 WJC tournament where he put up 1 point in 7 games, earning Mikko the distinction of being a true late bloomer Dman. Welcome to the Los Angeles Kings, to "the Jokerit Bobby Orr". Edited April 5, 2021 by Primal Optimist
