Health first, Always.

Definitely. The man has 2 Cup rings, and a career he should be very proud of. He has to think of his health first, especially with a family.

Hockey will still be there for him if/when he decides to return as a scout, coach, whatever. He'll certainly have work if he wants to in the NHL, and I admire his decision to leave on his own terms.

Hall of fame my ass, he had a solid career and won cups but his career was nowhere near HOF caliber.

Agreed. If Tom Barrasso isn't in the HoF, no way Crawford makes it.

Tho it's damn hard for a goalie to make HoF. I won't be shocked if Lou doesn't make the cut.

I'll be disappointed, he did everything he could but win a cup and a Vezina. And I'd argue he should have won that Vezina instead of Brodeur. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised either as goaltenders don't usually make it in.

He's definitely ahead of Crawford imo, even without cups.

Is that you Roberto Luongo?

Not even close, Lou actually played for years and years after he signed. Crawford never saw a single second of ice time as a Devil.

Lou gave everything to the Canucks, and got absolutely shafted for the Winter Classic. That was inexcusable, Gillis should've insisted Tortz play Lou (privately of course).

I'd rather see the Canucks pay Lou to sit and golf in Florida than pay Loui Ericsson to actually play on the ice.

To compare, Tom Barrasso has won the Calder, the Vezina, the William Jennings,  the Stanley Cup twice, holds the record for most points by an NHL goalie (48), and he's not in the HoF.

I just don't see Lou making it. Frankly it's shameful Barrasso isn't in, shows how hard it is for goalies to make the cut.

Wow, that's honestly pretty astonishing. He played a solid number of games for a goaltender too. Maybe he'll make it somewhere down the line.

Crawford was not going to be a difference maker for the devils but you won't find that on your Sportlogiq site. Not a playoff team with our without him.

He had a .917 sv% with the tire fire Blackhawks defense in front of him last season.

New Jersey had:

Blackwood - .915

Schneider - .887

Domingue - .882

Senn - .902

If you think Crawford wasn't going to perform better than Blackwood, that's fine. But if you think that in a season where having a solid tandem is more important than ever, he wasn't going to prove on those sub-AHL backup numbers, you are clearly biased for reasons you won't tell us.

My comments in this thread have been more about the fact NJ isn't a good team and that having him on their roster wouldn't be the difference b/w them making the playoffs or not. I'm not biased against him. Just not a believer in NJ. You could put Hellybuck in their crease and they still wouldn't be a legit playoff threat.

Go ahead and infer incorrectly on my posts all you want. You should take that talent on the road. I hear spreading disinformation and claiming falsehoods as reality can land you a job in the Oval office...well at least for a few more days.

Speaking of falsehoods...you quite literally said Crawford would not be a difference maker. You honestly don't believe he would have made a difference above that league-worst collection of backups? Truly?

I don't believe he would have made a difference for them in terms finding *success* this season or next. Yes, he is a better option that what they have on their farm, no denying that. Would he have been a difference maker in terms of helping them get into the playoffs, nope. They are a young team with no depth and their div is going to light them up, regardless of who plays in their net. They are headed for another lottery pick, which ain't a bad thing for a rebuilding team.

The only beef I am looking for is in a Wendy's big bacon classic. Have a good day sir.

*playoffs
