Most bad contracts come off this post season

we need to be ready now and not ruin our young further

.....about half of the deadwood contracts come off after this year $19.5M (Sutter $4.4M, Pearson $3.8, Edler $6M, Benn $2M, Baertschi $2.3M, Spooner $1M)  and the other half next year $20.5M (Erikson $6M, Roussel $3M, Beagle $3M, Motte $1.2M, Holtby $4.3M, Luongo $3M)  then we'll be left with our core of long term signed players and key prospects.

2-4 and waxed in how many games?

we are playing nothing close to a playoff hockey team

Open your eyes

btw, all 4 point games in a 56 game season

if, in a regular 82 game season you waited 20 games in to make a judgement on the club's offerings for the post season, then the ratio is that you really ought to wait 14 games into the 56 game season to make a similar judgement. This is game 5, day 9. :towel:

This team isn't as bad as it has looked to start the season.

Hughes will be better.

EP will be better.

The goalies will... Might be better.

That said.  This team has been trash on defense for years.  It's just continuing to do what it's always done, except Markstrom isn't dragging them to victories.

Benning has had years to build a winner and this is what we got.  At the very best, an average team.  He's had his shot.  Time to bring in someone that can actually navigate the cap and build depth around EP & QH.

Hughes defensively isnt just going to magically get better.  As excellent as he is on the pp and making plays, he has to be the worst defensive dman in the league.

Petey might be playing hurt.

Benning needs to find more hockey players that can play defense with intensity... not ice princesses.

Motte doesn’t belong in that category
