Even though I am a big fan of logic and reason you have to love Edwards take on thinking.

Dubbed the father of lateral thinking for good reason.

His take on the take on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict illustrates his take on humour in regards to lateral thinking.

We have lost a great mind/thinker.

Sad news for ZZ Top fans and family.

Dusty Hill has passed away at age 72

https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/28/entertainment/dusty-hill-zz-top-obit/index.html

(CNN)Dusty Hill, the bearded bassist with American blues-rock band ZZ Top, has died, according to the band's official website. He was 72.

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX," the statement, from surviving members Frank Beard and Billy Gibbons, said. "We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'."
The band was formed in 1969. Hill joined not long after, staying with ZZ Top for more than five decades, until his death. Hill performed alongside Beard and Gibbons and together they went on to have a string of hits and put out 15 studio albums. Among their most famous hits are "La Grange," "Tush" and "Gimme All Your Lovin'."
Hill was born in Dallas, and after trying to break into the music scene there, he eventually moved to Houston, where he met Gibbons.

Last week, the band's official site shared that Hill was being sidelined due to a "hip issue."
The band's longtime guitar tech, Elwood Francis, stepped in for Hill.
"Per Dusty's request, 'The show must go on!" the band had written in a statement.
Although Gibbons was the lead vocalist for most of the band's songs, Hill stepped up to sing "Tush," an early hit. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
You may have even seen him on screen in various appearances such as "Back to the Future Part III" and on "Deadwood."
"You will be missed greatly, amigo," Beard's and Gibbons's statement added.

Markie Post Dies: Actress Known For ‘Night Court’, ‘The Fall Guy’ & More Was 70

Markie Post, the actress known for turns in Night Court, The Fall Guy, Hearts Afire and more, died on Saturday, following a three year, ten month battle with cancer. She was 70.

Post’s manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, confirmed her passing to Deadline.

Born on November 4, 1950 in Palo Alto, California, Post got her start in entertainment by working behind the scenes on game shows, including Split Second, earning an associate producer credit on Alex Trebek’s Double Dare, and appearing before the camera as a card dealer on NBC’s Card Sharks.

Her first acting credits came in 1979, with appearances on episodes of CHiPs, Barnaby Jones, The Incredible Hulk, The Lazarus Syndrome, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and Hart to Hart.

She’d later appear in series such as The Love Boat, Cheers, Fantasy Island and The A-Team, before landing the role of bail bondswoman Terri Michaels in ABC’s The Fall Guy. She appeared in 65 episodes of that action drama between 1982 and 1985.

Post was also a series regular on NBC’s Night Court, portraying public defender Christine Sullivan for 159 episodes between 1985 and 1992. She also drew notice with her turn as Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman in Hearts Afire, the CBS sitcom, in which she starred opposite John Ritter.

Later in her career, Post recurred on Scrubs, as the mother of Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), in addition to Chicago P.D. and other series, portraying herself in a 2008 episode of 30 Rock.

On the film side, Post was perhaps best known for playing the mother of Cameron Diaz’s Mary in Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s classic 1998 comedy, There’s Something About Mary.

Post was determined to keep pursuing acting as “a side job”, even as she got sick. Between chemo treatments, she worked on projects such as Lifetime Christmas movie Four Christmases and a Wedding and ABC series The Kids Are Alright.

“But for us, our pride is in who she was in addition to acting; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments and showed us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an often harsh world,” her family said in a statement.

Post is survived by her husband, writer Michael A. Ross; daughters, actress Kate Armstrong Ross and Daisy Schoenborn; son-in-law Bryce Schoenborn and her and Michael’s five-month-old granddaughter.

Plans for a memorial are being made, though specific details as to a time and place have not yet been disclosed.

The Los Angeles Times confirmed Everly’s death on Saturday night, with a family spokesperson revealing that he died at his home in Nashville. The cause of death was not given.

“Don lived by what he felt in his heart,” read a statement provided to the Times. “Don expressed his appreciation for the ability to live his dreams… with his soulmate and wife, Adela, and sharing the music that made him an Everly Brother.”

Born in Kentucky in 1937, he and brother Phil (who died in 2014 at 74) began performing as a duo in the mid-1950s; The Everly Brothers scored their first hit, "Bye Bye Love", in 1957.

Considered rock 'n' roll pioneers, the brothers continued to rack up hits during the seminal years of rock, including “Bye Bye Love”, “All I Have to Do is Dream”, "Cathy's Clown" and “Problems”.

The Everly Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 alongside Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry, with Don inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2019.

The duo's unique blend of harmonies were early influences on some of rock's biggest acts, including The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel. In fact, Paul McCartney has said that he and John Lennon modeled their own harmonies on the Everlys.

“When John and I first started to write songs, I was Phil and he was Don," he once said.

News of Everly's death was met with tributes on social media.

Japanese actor Sonny Chiba, who wowed the world with his martial arts skills in more than 100 films, including Kill Bill, has died. He was 82.

Chiba, known in Japan as Shinichi Chiba, died late Thursday in a hospital near Tokyo where he had been treated for COVID-19 since Aug. 8, Tokyo-based Astraia, his management office, said in a statement Friday. It said he had not been vaccinated.

Chiba rose to stardom in Japan in the 1960s, portraying samurai, fighters and police detectives, the anguished so-called “anti-heroes” trying to survive in a violent world. He did many of the stunt scenes himself.

American director Quentin Tarantino listed the work as among his “grindhouse,” or low-budget kitsch cinema, favourites.

Tarantino cast Chiba in the role of Hattori Hanzo, a master swordsmith in Kill Bill.

Chiba appeared in the 1991 Hollywood film Aces, directed by John Glen, as well as in Hong Kong movies.

Chiba’s career also got a boost from the global boom in kung fu films, set off by Chinese legend Bruce Lee, although critics say Chiba tended to exhibit a dirtier, thug-like fighting style than Lee.

“A true action legend. Your films are eternal and your energy an inspiration. #SonnyChiba #RIP,” American actor Lewis Tan said on Twitter.

New York-based writer and director Ted Geoghegan called him “the great Sonny Chiba.”

“Watch one of his films today,” Geoghegan tweeted, followed by images of a fist and a broken heart.

Other fans mournfully filled Twitter threads with clips of his movies and photos.

Born in Fukuoka, southwestern Japan, Chiba studied at Nippon Sport Science University trained in various martials arts, earning a fourth-degree black belt in karate.

Chiba set up Japan Action Club in 1980, to develop a younger generation of actors, including protege Hiroyuki Sanada, who is among Hollywood’s most coveted Japanese actors, landing roles in The Last Samurai and Rush Hour 3.

Chiba is survived by his three children, Juri Manase, Mackenyu Arata and Gordon Maeda, all actors. A wake was cancelled as a pandemic measure, and funeral arrangements were still undecided, his office said.

Terrible. My favourite rock'n roll drummer ever. He wrote the book on tasteful playing. Nice man, too.
