Take away the 3 joke wins against Ottawa and our defensive numbers have been the worst in the league and by a long shot.

After another blowout loss tomorrow Green needs to make some big changes.

Take away all our good games and we suck, thanks for that insight.

He was complacent and didn't do his job to prepare the team.

The guys look shocked to see the Habs forwards zoning in on them so deep and so fast in all 3 zones.

I'm sure Claude Julien studied the Vegas series and knows how to expose our team.

Exposing a tired team isn't hard for a team that's well rested.   Not shocked...just flat footed and unable to counter that.

You can't prepare for the schedule that you're dealt....but it REALLY plays in to the Habs favour right now.  Their schedule's a breeze and they definitely have more gas in the tank to work with.

Jake is not playing bad enough to be the scapegoat so it goes down the line to goaltending next

People just use to Marky bailing us out.

We're playing worse defensively this year than last year.

People don't understand we are probably a bottom team if we play D like this. Doesn't matter what goalie we have in.

this team is treating the Habs like they're the Lightning. way too much respect for them.

Actually I think its the opposite and it seems we dont have much respect for them. Lots of lazy, non challant plays, lack of attention to details and having forwards as the last man back on the PP or having a rookie D like chatfield try to carry the puck up the ice like he is McDavid playing the leafs. Stupid defensive structure against a team that is number 1 in offense. Best way to play against this team is to trap and play them like vegas with Demko in net. Too bad we dont have a Tanev to block a shot or a pass. Benning better get on his ass and offer Virtanen and a prospect for Victor Mete. He also better sign Tryamkin before he becomes UFA

Habs have way more jump.    Been at home for nearly 2 weeks and played 2 games since they last played us.  We've played....4, including a back to back and two trips.

Matters.  But no one will consider even though it really does matter in a big picture way.

Our players didn't look slow. See the first period -- although we are down 3-1, we were in the game.

Turnovers and giveaways happened when opponents zero in on you unexpectedly fast.

Rest and jump has something to do with it but it's not just that. It doesn't justify the number of giveaways and turnovers that we've had. Our guys are out of time and good passing options and hence, throwing the puck away.

we also dont have Tanev and Stecher which are better than what we added it seems. And no Markstrom on the team. It all goes back to Benning for signing the wrong UFAs for big contracts lile Eriksson and Myers.

Not to take anything away from the Habs but .... this is the Nucks 5th game in 8 days, including travel. And tomorrow will be 6 in 9. Yikes, that's insane! Fatigue has got to be a reason for all the turnovers, getting beaten to the pucks, bad passes...

yeah our schedule is pretty f#cked.

I think this is it, Green needs to adjust our system. I don't the Habs are particularly strong or tenacious forechecking, they just send one or two guys out but we just can't deal with anything at the moment. This is not a strong playoff forecheck, this is a very measely couple of guys skating at our defenders and we're making stupid mistakes. In our prime, even last playoffs, we dealt with much faster forechecks with perfection but for some reason this season we've walked right into them, haven't been able to pass or skate around them as a unit but too many guys are trying to play through the Habs players.

They've got to simplify things - make the safe play up the boards if you need to, never try and dangle a forechecker (AV used to crucify guys for doing this) and everyone needs to play tighter and close to slowly pass and move the puck up the ice together as a unit rather than stretching out so much to try and force offence.

Forget about risky plays to make offence, start with sound defence and build from there - we've got the top-end skill to create offence out of nothing, we don't need to be forcing this.

Green needs to sit down with everyone and get them to simplify the gameplan because this offensive-first nonesense has completely blown up now.

Well said.

Gotta play safe and conservative hockey against the Habs and slow the f*cking game down.

Oh I agree....there's more to it for sure.   But they came out of the gates with energy but it petered out pretty quickly.  They look depleted, sloppy and unable to respond with anything.  Turnovers happen when a team is behind and reaching....able to counter punch.  They really DO have to slow the game down and they haven't managed to do that.   It's a little of both I think.
