Teams can get by with bad defense and great offence or bad offence with stellar defence. But we are terrible in both instances. That makes for a lottery team.

Have to admire the canucks composure. I mean, Toronto is humiliating them and yet  no one has run anyone or tried to start a fight.  Admirable self control. So convincing you would almost thing they dont care

So, our no pressure D system had absolutely nothing to do with getting hemmed in there.

 

Baumer's system is a &^@#ing joke. When you take an A1 match-up, first pairing Dman from an elite team - like Schmidt, and he struggles on a new team, what does that tell you about that teams D structure?

 

It's not like I havent railed on Baumer enough over the last 3 years, but the fact how ineffective that style is was exposed badly in the playoffs by both St. Louis, and especially Vegas.

 

Everything is wrong with the D structure. Everything.

Baumer needed to be fired BEFORE they extended him last year.

 

Green's inability to adapt to the way other coaches have exposed all his systems is a huge red flag.

I don't know if they actually "hate" him, but its only human nature to feel a bit betrayed and gutted as a player to witness how badly their GM is mismanaging.  Add to that their coach still unsigned.  Still have to be professionals and show up.  But I can somewhat understand why they started the season in a bad mood.

At those prices it was the best move long term but managament could had done a better job communicating with the departed and our current roster of the teams cap situation - hopefully another learning experience for our first time GM and his team..
