How about we get rid of the Aquillini family? There the ones that didn’t buy out anyone like..Luongo, Ericsson. They have there hands in way to deep and get in the way of GM.

Prior to the pandemic, the Aquillini's would sign any cheque Benning brings his way via free agency. You want an owner who leaves the door to the vault open for you.

The mess we're in with all the poor contracts is on Benning.

I keep forgetting to finish that series, because I watch a couple episodes and completely lose interest again.

I figured Jax ends up riding his bike off a cliff, all wasted and high on blow... but a head on will do.

Edit - *after he kills his Mom and Step Dad

Just finished it myself, great show.

Wish we had some guys to push back against their stars.

This team has been soft for 15 years now.

Chatfield wasn't even out there?  Not sure that you can justify Simmonds charging Quinn like that (you can't).

Among other deficiencies, the team doesn't have a certified fighter.

For all the criticism he got here tonight ,Tyler Myers was a +1 with no points and led all Canucks in ice time.

That's the scariest part.

Their stars'll push back against themselves again towards playoffs....like they always do every year.

Yeah. Myers is not the worst player on the team at all.

Jesus Christ. Just this alone is enough to fire JB. We never stood a chance.

Thats like half a team, yet we let Tanev, Marky and Toffoli walk. Why was Virtanen not traded? That alone would have created some cap space. Tanev and Toffoli cap hit would have equalled schmidt and Virtanens cap hit.

It’s worth it. Great series.

Meh. I find the storylines and dialog predictable and cheesy. Too much dead air and totally superficial.

But I'm sure I'll finish the series sometime in the next two or three years.

As a talent scout, Benning is excellent. His record speaks for itself in that regard. He’s blown way too many FA signings and trades, and those have all caught up with the team now.

I posted in another thread a week or so ago.  Benning’s record has been above average, but excellent is a stretch.

I did a year by comparison of who we would have drafted in the 1st rounds if we used the various draft rankings as the lists and took the best player available from those lists.

Benning beat out the ISS rankings, but lost to other guys like Button.

If we went with Button’s list for example we would have ended up with Nylander, McCann, Boeser (who he had ranked 9th), Ehlers, Vilardi, and Hughes.

The big win for Benning was picking Petterson, most lists had him at least a couple spots later.  Hughes was picked by most lists in that spot or higher, so that is kind of a wash.  The big losses for Benning were Virtanen and Juolevi...

I don’t think we can overplay Benning’s drafting genius when pundits in the press can out draft him.  Above average drafting certainly doesn’t make up for below average in other areas unfortunately.  Benning is a below average GM.

For sure. The characters are great though. A lot of cameos too. I found it hard to stick with at first, but after a while I found it really hard not to watch.

For $6M per year, you get $3M worth of reach and $3M worth of mistakes. But he's always been that way.

I know this sounds rotten but

IMO, Aqualini should not agree to any trades this season

Just ride it out and take our lumps

If he wants to hire a new GM, that is fine

If he wants to hire a new coach, that is fine

But no trading assets while we are down

No trading 1st and 2nds while we are down

Nor at season's end.......

We will have cap space and time to figure a new plan of attack

It could get rough, but ride it out

We are not the worst team in the league or even the division, so just ride it out

It just is not the time to make big player changes

Coaches, and GM's, I am OK with

It will be interesting. Good year to tank. No bums in the seats anyways. Draft isn't far off. Maybe shed a few assets like Sutter, Pearson, at the deadline
